This Sunday at 6:30pm(Unless otherwise noted to the right. Subject to change based on weather, track conditions, and driver attendance.)
SCHEDULE: We race every Summer Sunday and in late August, we switch to every Fall Saturday. When we have possible weather issues and/or driver scheduling conflicts, we will occasionally race on Fridays or Saturdays during Summer (and on rare occasions, weekdays). Due to our greenhouse, early summer we race after 6pm, but as the summer goes along, we can race in the late afternoon. Regular driver attendance will dictate the exact dates and times. Contact us for more info. Our Point Season Finale - our annual "Upstate New York Karters Invitational 200-Lap Galletta's Backyard Karting Speedway Klassic" is scheduled for a late September Saturday annually.
This season we raced Summer Fridays (with occasional Saturdays or Sundays). Date & time is subject to change due to driver availability (if we have more than 8 drivers, we race, if we don't, we'll re-schedule. With 23 karts on site, we don't run with less, as it isn't an accomplishment to race in or win anything less if you're an adult.).
Again, events may be preemptively re-scheduled or postponed due to weather and regular driver availability, but we NEVER miss a week of racing - unless we don't have enough drivers , so come on up! Spectators are free and racers donate nominally to the track and karts to race. Stay tuned, and navigate through our hundreds of race pages dating back to the 1990s and YouTube videos dating back to 2007!
That's right! Every single season since 1995, every "Klassic" since 2002, and very single points race and YouTube video we have since 2005 to now are ALL available to view for free right here!

Race with us!
DONATIONS / FEES / RENTAL KARTS:
Arrive-and-drive karts may be rented. Rental donation is bare-bones, covering gas and parts wear only! Galletta's operates on a nominal "donation fees to keep the track ready and karts running. Anything you can donate to the track and karts helps. We also allow drivers to race with us provided they agree to sign a waiver, and the land owner allows recreational karts to run under the New York Recreational Use Statute.
We run 1-wheel-drive gas flathead motors with some racing enhancements all done on site.
Bring your own kart:
- $5 donation to enter your own kart (donation to Matt for his track work, donation waived if you bring multiple racers to rent). If Matt or Wes works on YOUR owned kart, please give him MORE than this $5 bare bones tip. It's worth it, as you will NOT find another karting division ANYWHERE where the top driver and mechanic will help you have a kart capable of beating them on any given race day for so little. We LOVE racing, and we sacrifice our own karts by helping our friends, relatives and total strangers to compete against us!
Galletta's Team Kart for Regular Event (40-70 laps):
We have over 15 arrive-and-drive karts on-site, all competitive feature winners and waiting for drivers to pilot them.
- Regular Driver / Returning Veteran: $20
- Newbie Driver / Rookie Driver: $25
Ask Matt about a full-year membership rental, or rent a kart with your own motor/drive system, which would be considerably less than weekly AND have that kart reserved for you every week.
Galletta's Team Kart for Regular Event (200 laps + qualifiers):
Klassic rental will be more. Contact Matt, as deals can be made, depending on how many laps you run and if you don't break the karts!
We can help you build your own Galletta's-style kart for only a few hundred dollars. From time to time, some drivers sell their Galletta's-style karts for $200-300 as well. You will NOT be able to spend that little on a competitive, feature-winning kart in any other karting division around. Period.
Spectators:
- Spectators are free to watch! (But stay safely away from the track!)
- Pose with a kart and be counted in our points race via 1 lap? Free! Just ask!
The above countdown is usually updated as soon as news breaks (rain-dates, postponements, reschedules, etc.), so pay attention to this sidebar.
If you have not raced with us before, you are welcome to join! We have many arrive-and-drive karts available, and you will not race with a more talented karting group, empirically proven on this website (and erased from the local pay track website because of how good of a show we put on for bottom dollar)! Even if just a lap to earn points, or race in a newbie qualifier... give it a shot. 99% of the time, people love it! 2014 will now have membership, which will help regular drivers race the full season. Contact us.
Tim Galletta debuted the Sid Harvey’s #54 on July 26th, 2010. Originally the 1st Dick Dann “Destroyer Chassis #86” kart slightly rebuilt by Matt and Wes Stevens with a Matt Stevens built motor and decals by Chris Stevens.
Name:
Timothy Galletta
Year Started Racing at Galletta’s:
2009
Bio:
Multi-time feature winner Tim Galletta is cousin to Galletta’s Karting founders Matt & Chris Stevens and grandson to Galletta’s Greenhouse founder John Galletta. He is just one of the many relatives who have joined us for racing over the years, but he has had far more success than most. He raced full-time from 2009-2012 until moving south. Tim has had great success for being over 6’4″ and 240lbs., proof that our system of gearing-to-weight and custom kart building does indeed work, and slaps past doubters in the face... (such as the OHV Outlaws and Oswego Kartway Track operators in the face as being whiners with ulterior motives–real men don’t race in the missionary position divided by age and weight… kids and girls do, though.)
Awards:
Tim has seven eight feature wins under his belt, a very high win ratio, being a solid fast groove runner and being crafty at holding the lead once he gets it.
He was the 2009 Rookie-of-the-Year, and won both the 2010 and 2011 Visitor’s Points Track Championships, a role which he dominated until leaving for North Carolina midway into the 2012 season.
Tim was able to make it up from North Carolina to enter the 2018 Galletta’s Karting 200-Lapper — and considering all the people who allegedly are “karters” and “racers” and live such a short distance away that can’t make it to the championship, he just put countless others to shame. Tim had his personal best run in the 200, but the marathon event took its toll as it does to so many. If he can keep making it up during Klassic time, we believe he’ll be able to finish, and if you are there on lap 200, you have a shot to win it!
Tim made a return after 5 years in North Carolina to get in a few races while visiting family. And he took advantage of it!
8/12/2017 – 3rd Annual Faith Birthday 50’s Twin-25s won by Tim Galletta & Chris Stevens [+YouTube Race Videos]
Saturday, August 12th, 2017 – Tim Galletta and Chris Stevens pretty much controlled almost the entire evening, each getting 1-2 and vice versa respectively. Tim shook off the rust accumulated due to a move down south and then held off everyone for his 1st feature win in a handful of years during the 1st feature. Then Chris Stevens evaded an accident that took out the top three to coast to the win in the 2nd. Plus, during the 1st feature, Tim’s bro-in-law (and past feature winner) Jared Halstead took a nasty spill after coming together with Josh Arnold, flipped, and then got run over by Matt Stevens. Thankfully, he was fine and continued in the 2nd feature. Good racing all around, but there’s an attendance problem when we have to depend on people who live in North Carolina to have enough people to race. Um… what the heck is going on with karters around Oswego? Hello?? If the kart don’t cost a few grand, you ain’t racin’? Wow. Complete YouTube race video and points are done so read on for more…
2014-16:
Tim and his family live in North Carolina and is unable to race. He misses it greatly and wishes he could still be running with us every weekend.
2013:
8/10/2013 – Justin Galletta & Chris Stevens take the ‘Twin-30s-For-Tim’ Saturday Night Special!
SATURDAY-SUNDAY, AUGUST 10th-11th, 2013, OSWEGO, NY – Tim Galletta – cousin to founders Matt and Chris Stevens and also another grandson of the Late Galletta’s Greenhouse founder, John J. Galletta – raced in the club for the better part of four seasons (2009-2012), including missing only 1 race in a 3 year span. His move down south for work took him out of weekly competition, in fact, for a full year! Tim was back for a specially scheduled Saturday, August 10th, 2013 show, his only race of the year thus far (hopefully he can work in time for the 2013 Klassic 200). We had twin 30s on Saturday and then, we also ran a 3rd feature, a slightly longer 35-lapper, on our regularly scheduled Sunday! The races did not disappoint. Justin Galletta (Galletta’s Greenhouse #7) won the 1st, Chris Stevens (Chrusher.com/Galletta’s Greenhouse/R&C Sushi LLC #8) won the 2nd, and a career first winner for Kevin Galletta (Galletta’s Greenhouse #9) kart in the 3rd feature on Sunday. More on the race page, including full race videos, here!
2012:
SUNDAY, JULY 8th, 2012: Father and son – Tim and Justin Galletta – took the eleven-competitor twin-30 features at Galletta’s, finally breaking their cousin Matt’s furious streak of FOUR straight wins to open the 2012 season. It was Tim’s seventh feature win in his four year career, while his son Justin secured his second feature win in just his second season. And both look stronger and stronger with each race. Here is the story, along with full race videos….
Unfortunately, Tim’s job search left him down south for months, and for the first time since his 2009 rookie campaign, Tim missed races, including the Klassic 200.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4th, 2011: In honor of the Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified Classic 200 -a race which we shaped our own karting club’s season and 200-lap “Klassic” championship after – we originally planned to race on Labor Day Monday. However, due to the Oswego Classic being moved up three hours to avoid rain, we tried to race Sunday after Classic knowing that Monday could very well rain-out our race. Kenny Lindsley III flew off the track while leading most of the show, which set up Justin Galletta to lead late. But on turn 4, Justin’s clutch teeth literally gave out on the spot and his father Tim Galletta took the Labor Day 45-Lapper! (Oddly, a bit of a mirror image of Otto Sitterly passing his teammate on the last turn to win the Oswego Classic 200). Pics, descriptions, results FULL race videos & points are up!
MONDAY, AUGUST 22nd, 2011: With the regularly scheduled Sunday the 21st getting a washout, our race was moved to Monday the 22nd. Randy “The Bobandi” Platt made his triumphant return from his self-imposed half-summer hiatus to promptly win his first race back relatively unchallenged, taking his first feature win of 2011. The 2nd 30-Lapper saw Chris Stevens lead the first 27 laps only to break a throttle cable, and Tim Galletta took care of the final three en route to his 2nd win of 2011. The track was smooth and fast, and passes were at a premium. Videos and race results are up here, and so is the full race video! Check back soon!
JULY 17TH, 2011: The undisputed winningest karter in Central New York did it again. Matt Stevens won the 2nd Twin-30 of the night, leading all 30 laps, but did so by actually coming in last in the first 30-lapper, which was won by his cousin Tim Galletta. 60 laps of racing only saw 1 caution for one spinout. Clean, competitive racing from green to checker. 8/10/2011 Update: 7/17/2011′ TWIN 30s ON TWO YOUTUBE VIDEOS ARE UP (30 minutes of the COMPLETE races online AND complete races as well!!!)!

2010 Season, Event #14- Sunday, September 5th, 2010– Pre-Classic Twin-30s Night: Tim Galletta won the 2nd of two 30-lap features at Galletta’s in the Sid Harvey/Galletta #54.
2010 Season, Event #10- Sunday, August 8th, 2010– A“Snooze-U-Lose Twin-30s Night” was in store at Galletta’s Backyard Karting Speedway, and Timothy Galletta became the 1st 2-feature winner of the season (but first in his Sid Harvey’s #54 kart) when he took Feature #1. His second career win came before the anniversary of his 1st race entered in August 2009, showing how far Tim has progressed – He’s one of the top-guns on the track in less than one whole racing season.
2010 Season, Event #2- Monday, June 14th, 2010:
A 55-Lap Feature was in store for 12 karts – including four 1st-time drivers – and it saw another new entry into Galletta’s Victory Lane: Tim Galletta – cousin of club founders Chris and Matt – took an impressive win in the Galletta’s Greenhouse #7 kart, his 1st career feature victory coming in start of his 2nd season of racing. Race results on this page. YouTube highlights, pics and points are up on the race page.
2009:
Although Tim heard about his cousins Matt and Chris Stevens, along with his uncle Wes “TrOgre” Stevens racing — and had seen the then simple track back in the 1990s, and had seen the karts in the early years (box stock 5hp yard karts) — he had absolutely no idea how super-fast the karting club at his late grandfather’s greenhouse had become until he tried them out at the 1st All-Galletta family reunion cookout and exhibition go-kart race in 2009. He had no idea it had changed so much since the 1990s… and that it was this fast and this much fun. Tim exclaimed on more than one occasion, “If I had known, I’d been racing for years!” He raced in the 2009 All-Galletta race and got the bug. Big time. He now makes every single race that he is in town ever since at Galletta’s.

This pic may very well be the most hilarious profile pic in club history. No… wait… there is another….
Brian Galletta – the only competitor who has had any substantial prior experience – drew the pole for the FIRST EVER ALL-GALLETTA race – which featured all cousins of Galletta’s Karting founders Chris and Matt Stevens, and also all grandsons (and one great-grandson) of Galletta’s Greenhouse founder John J. Galletta.
The draw made it very easy for him to use his knowledge of the karts and track (including a feature win, some heat wins, time-trialing 2nd fastest and and leading a large chunk of the 2003 Klassic) and dominate all 30 laps unchallenged for the win, his 2nd career feature win at Galletta’s.
Galletta's Backyard Go-Kart Speedway is a free-to-race-on and free-to-watch 0.133887 mile dirt oval with 20-degree banked turns . It is located behind Galletta's Greenhouse in Oswego, NY, and can be seen from outer space! The single-wheel-drive gasoline-fueled flathead motor karts take the track between 15-17 seconds per lap which averages over 30 mph (approximately 45-50 mph top speed in the straights). Our speeds are comparable to alcohol/methanol-fueled karts that cost 8 times as much because we use mostly homemade or rebuilt go-karts and gas on a large track; leading to more karts, more competition, and more fun. Our class is usually the largest and most competitive in the area. Thanks to Google Earth for this Spring 2006 photo. Our karting club's home track is located in back of:
