Galletta’s @ Oswego Speedway’s Dirt Oval : 8/16/2007:

Gallettas @ Oswego Kartway 8/16/2007 gas stocker
On August 16th, 2007, members of the Galletta’s Karting Club raced in Oswego Speedway’s Dirt Oval in the Clockwise Gas Stocker (also known as the Super Yard Kart) division. The track also sports methanol flatheads, methanol animals (and age and weight divisions), but the mixed-motor gas stocker class is the largest and most competitive at the track, and our website covers our Galletta’s races. See? We get more bang for our buck, don’t we? 😉 Observe!  (Above photo by Xtreme.)

Warm-ups

Track operator Jim Losurdo showed his love to Team Galletta’s Greenhouse and Team Outlaws by letting them get covered in hogslop-like mud and “dry” the track in warm-ups! Chris and Wes Stevens stayed home, still in protest against the track operator’s stubborn refusal to allow Galletta’s (flatheads) and Outlaws (OHVs) to be counted in separate engine classes… (you know, like all other motorsport race classes do).

Ah, that wacky Jim Losurdo. Making the "Super Yard Karts" dry his over-watered track. *sigh*

Eric Raponi (OHV Outlaw #83), Mike “MC” Howell (Galletta’s Greenhouse #6), Kenny Lindsley III (Galletta’s Greenhouse #2), and Kyle Rueter (Galletta’s Greenhouse #5, inset) hit the Oswego Kartway in practice.

Kenny Lindsley III (Galletta’s @2)marvels at the power of Eric Raponi’s Outlaw #83 in warm-ups.

…and joined by Shadoe Russell (Galletta’s Greenhouse #7) and Matt Stevens(Galletta’s Greenhouse #33).

Well, at least it made for some nice shots. The karts sure got some caked-on clay though!

Kyle Reuter (Galletta’s Greenhouse #0) won the heat after a few drivers thought the caution was out and he went from 5th to 1st. Here he is ahead of Joe Hayden (Outlaws #5) and Eric Raponi (Outlaws #83). (Xtreme Photos)

Oswego Speedway Dirt Oval - Galletta's Karting Club Video (2007)

The largest field at the Oswego Speedway Kartway track – the Mixed-Motor Gas Stockers – takes the green! (Galletta’s Karting Club DVD Capture)

Mike "mc" Howell in the Galletta's #6 (2007).

Usually the flagger at local tracks, DJ Mike “MC” Howell will occasionally throw on a fire suit & helmet and hop into a kart. Here he rages on in the Galletta’s Greenhouse #6! (Xtreme Photos)

Shadoe Russel in Galletta's#7 (2007; it has since been rebuilt lower).

The legendary Shadoe Russell in the Galletta’s Greenhouse #7. Oddly, although these are the first kart races he has ever entered and he is a very raw, mistake-prone rookie learning the ropes, he has more loud and exuberant fans than veteran drivers many wins and years his senior! “WAY TO GO SHADOE! LET’S GO!” *CLAP!* *CLAP!* (Xtreme Photos)

Please buy these great shots from Xtreme.

Matt Stevens gets under MC Howell, while Kyle Reuter, Joe Hayden, and Eric Raponi look to follow him through.

The Feature was won by Matt Stevens in the Galletta’s #33, and he was followed by Mike “MC” Howell in the Galletta’s #6, Joe Hayden in the OHV #5, Eric Raponi in the OHV #83, Kenny Lindsey in the Galletta’s #2, and Kyle Reuter in the Galletta’s #0 after he dropped out while running 3rd. Shadoe Russell was black-flagged and finished last in the Galletta’s #7 as flocks of young women cheered him on! (Xtreme Photos)

Matt wins again! He has won more races on both Galletta’s and Oswego Speedway’s Dirt Tracks than the other fifty+ Oswego-area dirt Go-Kart drivers … COMBINED. One can dispute, but the empirical evidence is on this website. One can call us “yard karts”, but try us and see that this is not kid’s play. He is the class of Oswego Yard Kart and all Go-Kart races. Can he be stopped?! Anything can happen, but the odds are not too %@$%^&* likely!

AUGUST 14-15th UPDATE: Oscar Berry, one of our most regular members of the Galletta’s Go-Karts Racing Club, suffered what was initially diagnosed as a mild heart attack and had surgery yesterday. Apparently, everything checked out well and it was just acid reflux, his heart appears to be fine. Oswego Speedway Dirt Track operator Jim Losurdo also had a mild heart attack the following week, and we also hope he is recovering nicely as well. Our prayers, thoughts, and well-wishes are all with them, and we hope they both will make a speedy recovery. God bless.
