7/10/2015 – Adam Lytle survives War of Attrition 40-Lapper for his 4th career feature win!

 photo 2015-07-03-chris-wins-1024.jpg
FRIDAY, JULY 10th, 2015, OSWEGO, NY –
George Sweeting, Keith Raymond, Kevin Galletta, Chris Stevens and Matt Stevens all either had 1st and/or 2nd place and all had mechanical problems or an unfortunate caution to put them in the rear. In fact EVERY DRIVER who raced in the 40-lapper was involved in at least a minor mishap. But it was Adam Lytle who impressively wins his 4th career feature (though he noted after the race that it may have been his 1st where a full moon was not out)! However, it certainly felt like it was, as it was one of those nights where crazy things happened – track rutted, karts flipping, chains popping, sprockets bending, drivers breaking or crashing while leading – a race takes longer to complete than other ones… just one of those nights that happens once or twice a season. But Lytle is proving he has a knack of winning these tough mudder, grind-it-out, survivor wins karting races, as he takes another one, and has steadily become one of the top threats to win at the track week in and week out! Points, pics & video up later, so check back often.

Ogie Stevens unearthed the Championship belt. [INSET] Ogie claims to, "SHOW YOU ALL HOW IT'S DONE, YOU BUNCH OF FRIGGERS!"
Ogie Stevens revealed that he has unearthed the Championship belt from hiding. When questioned where it was hiding, he chortled, “There was no one good enough to warrant removing it from its sleeping place, Kwis.” [INSET] As Ogie takes a lap in the Galletta’s #5, he proclaims to, “SHOW YOU ALL HOW IT’S DONE, YOU BUNCH OF FRIGGERS!”

Make-up Rookie Practice Heat / Retcon Race (8 Laps)
At Galletta’s, we give drivers who missed races an opportunity to get practice races in and earn points for races they missed in the current season (within reason… we can’t do a whole season, maybe 2-3 tops unless you have a full season commitment and a real valid reason for missing races). This year, it will be for the most recent race you missed instead of the earliest race you missed like prior years.

Start:
1. George Sweeting (Good Guys Barbershop #81)
2. Kevin Finn (Galletta’s Greenhouse #6)
3. Nick Camron (Galletta’s Greenhouse #7)
4. Kevin Galletta (Galletta Bros. #28)

Cheaper, Faster, Better than Oswego Kartway: 7/10/2015 Heat #1 wild wreck by Kevin Finn!
During the 1st heat, 1st-time rookie Finn took a wild ride driving a bit too high in turn 1, hitting loose track and plowing the tire wall underneath the race tower. He flipped the Galletta’s #6 which was out for the night with significant damage (and losing half its tank of gas on the track before it was flipped back over).

Video:

(The rookie continued, racing the Galletta’s #9 in the feature.)

George Sweeting was challenged by Chris Stevens (Galletta’s/Chrusher.com #8) on the last lap, but held on by a bumper and a tire for the photo finish win.

Cheaper, Faster, Better than Oswego Kartway: 7/10/2015 Heat #2
2nd heat had Keith Raymond in the Good Guys Barbershop #88 lead… until a chain popped off on the last half lap. Kevin Galletta then took the win in the Galletta Bros. #54. Keith came to a stop in turn 4 and could’ve possibly phsyically ran to the finish for 3rd, but stayed parked and Nick Camron got him!

Start:
1. Kevin Galletta (Galletta Bros. #54)
2. Matt Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #2)
3. Nick Cameron (Galletta’s Greenhouse #7) ®
4. Keith Raymond (Good Guys Barbershop #88)

40-Lap Feature Event:

The feature was shortened to 40 laps beforehand due to the rough track, the three heat races taking longer than they should’ve taken, and the 1st feature of the season to start after dark in 2015. We had been finishing them all at dusk or before. But Matt was slowed by the same stomach bug that has been going around of late, and the track didn’t get the required TLC, so we had to make due with what we had. It sets up one of those races where surviving the potholes and mishaps can often be more important than top speed on the quickest line.

Start:
1. George Sweeting (Good Guys Barbershop #81) ®
2. Keith Raymond (Good Guys Barbershop #88)
3. Kevin Galletta (Galletta Bros. #54)
4. Adam Lytle (Lytle Racing #33c)
5. Matt Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #2)
6. Chris Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #5)
7. Nick Cameron (Galletta’s Greenhouse #7) ®
8. Kevin Finn (Galletta’s Greenhouse #9) ®
9. Melissa Stevens (Scissors n’ Fur #19) [Elected to start in the rear, handicapped 3rd.]

Far more exciting starts than boring Oswego Kartway.
Rookie George Sweeting jumped out to a nice lead in the early going, with Keith Raymond and Kevin Galletta staying within striking distance looking for George to make an error to capitalize upon…. BUT George’s chain popped off in turn 4 on lap 7 and he had to go to the rear.

Good Guys Barbershop's Keith Raymond leads after co-worker George Sweeting broke.
Then Keith Raymond took the lead, fended off a challenge from Kevin Galletta (that put the #54 in the rear when tires brushed and the #54’s chain popped off) and the #88 held on for 14 laps…….. UNTIL his chain popped off on lap 31 thanks to the bumps in turns 1 and 2. How many times will the 1st career feature win elude Mr. Raymond?!

Chris and Matt set to battle for the win... then wreck after Chris brushes wall. Still better than silly Kiddie Kartway. ;)
Chris Stevens then inherited the lead in the Galletta’s #5 on lap 32 and looked poised to win his 4th feature of the young season……. BUT that loose dirt high in turn 1 got him too. He brushed the tire wall under the racetower. He kept going, but 2nd place Matt Stevens in the Galletta’s #2 became locked up (front wheel locked into the side bumpers), and the two came to a stop in turn 3, blocking the track. They had to go to the rear, which then assured that everyone who raced had to go to the rear at least once due to malfunction or mishap, and since Eric Woolworth couldn’t make it (sore body from bike spill), the chances of the 4th winner in 7 features just increased dramatically.

Adam Lytle then inherited the lead of his 4th career feature win! AGAIN... better than Oswego Fartgay!
On lap 33 Adam Lytle then inherited the lead (who himself had to go to the rear due to a wild spin early on)….. and never looked back en route to his 4th career feature win! Eventually one of us was going to finish before a break or wreck! Congrats to Adam on his 4th career feature victory! And 1st time rookie driver Kevin Finn recovered from his wild flip in the heat race to score a steady and impressive 4th place finish during all the mayhem!

FINISH:

Handicap Starting Order for the next race:

1) Order is handicapped by inverting those who have never won a feature at Galletta’s, and then by inverting thier average points-per-feature as tiebreaker.
2) Order is handicapped by inverting those who have have won features previously at Galletta’s (but not yet won a feature in current season), and then by inverting their average points-per-feature as 1st tiebreaker (if 2nd tiebreaker is needed, it is by then inverting all-time wins).
3) Order is handicapped by inverting feature wins in current season, and then inverting average points-per-feature in current season as 1st tiebreaker (inverting all-time wins as 2nd tie-breaker).
4) Any new drivers with prior races at Galletta’s will be handicapped via Past Wins > Past Points > Weight.
5) Any new drivers with no prior races at Galletta’s will be handicapped by inverting by weight in heat race, and in feature, invert by heat race position.
