FALL CHALLENGE TWIN-30s at GALLETTA’S on OCTOBER 24th, 2008:

Yet another Fall Challenge Twin-30 Race Night was held on Friday, October 24th, 2008, as they are very popular with all active drivers because it gives a reset and a chance for potentially two winners per night. On a special Friday Night show (to avoid the predicted rainfalls on the weekend), Chris Stevens won the first 30-lapper in his trusty old Galletta’s #5, and Nick Dann won the second; his first feature ever at Galletta’s to add to his first feature ever at Oswego earlier in the year, and it comes in the Galletta’s #7.

This means 6 Feature winners in 6 Fall races at Galletta’s! Can’t get any closer to even competition than that! And no weighing down winners, no allowing bigger motors, and no whining and fighting either! Wow!

Close Racing early in the 1st Feature!

The first feature saw Melissa Gabel lead the half the race in her Scissors N’ Fur/Galletta’s #80 kart after Larry Phillips and Nick Dann crashed in the lead. However, unlike last week, Melissa’s kart was ill-handling, and Chris Stevens passed her midway and pulled away to lead the rest of the show in his Galletta’s #5 kart to score a win. Nick Dann scored 2nd (in the Galletta’s #7), Matt Stevens (Galletta’s #1) got 3rd, Russ Hockey (Hockey #00) got 4th, Dick Dann (Dann #68) got 5th, and Larry Phillips (L&K #04) got 6th, and Melissa Gabel scored 7th in her #80.

Close karting action in the 2nd Feature!

The second feature saw Melissa Gabel AGAIN lead the half the race in her Scissors N’ Fur/Galletta’s #80 kart. However, Nick Dann was flying (again in the Galletta’s #7) and broke out into the lead. Matt (this time in his Galletta’s #3) and Chris Stevens (#5) followed in hot pursuit, and although Matt attempted several passes, he was unable to get Nick, and Chris then sealed off Matt. Matt was unable to pass both Nick and Chris, which Nick scored his first career feature win at Galletta’s to bookend his win at Oswego earlier this season. Nick Dann scored 1st (in the Galletta’s #7), Chris Stevens scored 2nd (Galletta’s #5, Matt Stevens (Galletta’s #3) got 3rd, Russ Hockey (Hockey #00) got 4th, Melissa Gabel survived a late-race flip when her tie-rod bolt came loose and scored 5th (in her Galletta’s #80), Larry Phillips (L&K #04) got 6th, and Dick Dann got 7th (after the Dann #68 broke down – broken spoiler and broken drivewheel hub – and he finished the race in the Galletta’s #4).

POST RACE – Side-note about motors and the Ryan Coleman / Gary Miller Sr. Gossip Controversy:

Chris has been racing with (and won this race with) the same exact motor that Ryan Coleman stopped racing with mid-season because Gary Miller told him (and his mom and friend JP) that it was a ‘slow motor’ and Ryan fell for it. Ah, that’s our Gary!

Gary was MAD at Ryan and called him all sorts of names after he bumped and passed him, so he went on an old lady gossip campaign to make us look like cheaters who rig it thinking maybe have Ryan quit or mistrust us, and he succeeded at all three false flag propaganda campaigns! We thought Ryan was smarter than that because he seems like a bright guy and he’s also a very good, tough, savvy racer. C’mon, Ryan!

Anyway… Chris proved how fast it is being the only pull-away winner so far in this Fall Series (so far 6 Feature races and 6 different winners, and Larry came VERY close to winning one as well). Ryan, who listened to Gary Miller (of all people) instead of us, robbed himself of a potentially being the first person to oust Matt and Chris out of 1-2 in the points championship (he was in 2nd place before he quit!), simply because he got paranoid about Gary’s gossip after he had a sputtering carb in one race.

ALL of the karts occasionally get sputtering carbs and need a clean. It happens to all of them — Chris and Matt’s karts included! Doesn’t mean the motor is slow nor does it mean we fix it to win. How would we do that? Put something in the carb before the race?! Nonsense. Ryan was blowing everyone’s doors in in his feature wins and in 2nd place in the points, then had one race with a sputtering carb and quit! He let Gary Miller Sr. win out of paranoia. Sad. We loved racing Ryan and we were saddened he quit. Then again… one person ones thrilled! Gary!

Anyways, the motor is a beast that Ryan could’ve potentially won a points title or Klassic with, but he didn’t (rumor is he’s trying Kartway out next year — and after what he said about the operator and that he’d never race anywhere he was, confusing why he would… but I digress).

Again, on another side-note, we prove self-proclaimed outlaws and outsiders wrong by buying “OUT-OF-PRODUCTION” motors on ebay for $20-150 and making them race-winning-fast with just a little sweat and elbow grease! 😉

Now, we can look at the…

Matt Stevens, Buddy Cottom, Chris Stevens & Russ Hockey took the top 4 at the 2008 Galletta's Klassic 200!The Galletta’s Kart Club 2008 Volume #18 & 19 DVD set – THE 2008 GALLETTA’S KLASSIC & FALL SERIES!:
At the GALLETTA’S GO-KART SPEEDWAY on a crisp and cool Sunday, September 21st, 2008, we held the 13th Annual Galletta’s Kart Klassic 200!!! Two angles of the 200 lapper, the first in Galletta’s (and possibly all) karting history. Also includes the Fall Challenge Series races on  October 12th, 2008, October 19th, 2008, October 24th, 2008, and November 2nd, 2008. Price $10.

Come on out! There is no other organized race club in the area can you race your own kart for free, help you work on your kart when you need it, or rent a competitive, race-winning kart for $15 (for 50-60 laps on our large track), and have full points records back nearly a decade. Don’t be a driver that either never tried or worse yet quit after a couple of races and miss all of the extremely affordable fun. Nothing can beat the speed and competition for the price anywhere in the world. Nearly 200 different drivers in nearly 200 events since 2000 can’t be wrong. Also, in closing, a certain bald-headed, toothless, hair-chested fly on the wall told us that Oswego Karway will be cooking up a scheme to kick us out. Hmm…. PS: Oh, BTW, this race is also named, “The Gary-Miller-Said-‘I’m-Done-Because-I-Don’t-Know-How-To-Fix-My-Gas-Stocker-Nor-Can-I-Afford-To-Race-Them-For-Free-Anymore-So-I-Will-Race-WKA-Asphalt-Road-Course-Karts-Because-I-Can-Certainly-Afford-Them-And-Also-Fix-And-Maintain-Them-For-Cheaper-Than-Free-I-Looked-Into-Them-And-They-Are-Cheaper-And-Easier-To-Maintain-Than-Bullshit-Lollygag-Around-Galletta’s-That-Matt-Doesn’t-Make-My-Own-Kart-Fast-Enough-For-Me-For-Free-Anymore-So-I’ll-Sell-My-Stripped-Frames-For-$400-And-Steve-Gioia-Told-Me-That-Galletta’s-Ain’t-Allowed-At-Oswego-No-More-Because-They-Are-Too-Dangerous-For-That-Track-And-Russ-Hockey-Is-After-Me-Tryin’-To-Wreck-Me-All-The-Time-So-I’m-Gonna-Punch-Him-In-The-Face-That-Sonovab***’ Twin-30s.” Wow, that was a mouthful name of a race! 😀 He ain’t happy until he lies and badmouths us to everybody he knows, and often to people that he himself speaks very poorly of behind their backs as well, like he spoke poorly about Ryan to all who cared to listen the weeks before. Talk about gratitude for all the free help Matt gives him with his karts! {:^/

Our "Away" track: Oswego Kartway!T he Galletta’s Go-Karting Club was founded by brothers Matt and Chris Stevens in the early 1990ss when they modified yard karts for racing purposes. They are the inventors of “clockwise 5hp flathead gas stocker kart” racing, and have a 13-kart race team that includes several backup karts available to be rented and raced at both Galletta’s and Oswego Speedway all summer. Invented with specifically “gas stock 5hp motor” rules so that a person doesn’t have to spend thousands of dollars to race in extremely competitive racing events, the class grows in talent and competition every single year. Join us by building your own kart for around $500 or rent one of our team karts on Summer Thursdays or Summer Sundays in Oswego, NY!

John J. Galletta Memorial Kartway Oswego Speedway's Kartway
The Oswego Gas Stocker Kart Club races at Galletta’s Greenhouse Kartway & Oswego Speedway Kartway.

Due to the fact that the karts are so affordable and the oldest veterans have been racing for nearly two decades, it is one of the most difficult karting divisions to win at, but yet you can be instantly competitive for just a couple hundred dollars IF you’re a good driver. You can’t outspend your opponent due to our gas-powered stock-only rule, so you must out-race them and out-setup them. In fact, nobody has ever defeated Matt & Chris in the open challenge: race a stock 5hp flathead and stop them from scoring 1st & 2nd in a points season. Though hundreds of people have tried in hundreds of races since the early 1990s, Chris and Matt have scored 1 & 2 every year. But it’s not just them you have to race. Our regular drivers are all talented and experienced. You can prove your skills against the winningest karters in the local area AND you won’t even have to spend a lot of money to get started! We dare you to try! Make your own or rent one of our racing team karts. Sound like fun? Read on, explore the website, and join us!
