7/8/2012: Twin 30s Night (w/Father-&-Son Love)
Posted on July 10th, 2012 by ChrusherComix Studios

SUNDAY, JULY 8th, 2012: Father and son - Tim and Justin Galletta - took the eleven-competitor twin-30 features at Galletta's, finally breaking their cousin Matt's furious streak of FOUR straight wins to open the 2012 season. It was Tim's seventh feature win in his four year career, while his son Justin secured his second feature win in just his second season. And both look stronger and stronger with each race. Here is the story....

Again, heat races serve as warm-ups that count for bonus points, and have no effect on the starting lineup of the feature race, although they do provide a sneak preview as to who is running good while giving time to those who need to wrk a bit more. The handicap starting lineup of the feature is split into two and we race.

Justin Galletta looked like a man on a mission as he took heat one, always difficult to do when Matt is in your heat!

HEAT 2:

Heat two saw Joe Sereno come back after a stall to beat Chris Stevens to the front for the win via boxing him in on the Galletta's #9. A very funny closeup of Adam Lytle's right front tire coming off (and thde said tire being run over) is on camera (buy a DVD or watch it on YouTube).

START: Pos. | Driver (Karts driven) | 2012 Wins |
Billy Ruggio got out to a wicked fast start, pulling away from the pack. Lots of great racing action took place, which you can see via the DVD and/or the YouTube video. And great racing it is... these are open wheel vehicles driven by grown men - no overpriced missionary-position sittin' bumper karts here, kids.
Justin Galletta proved capable of pulling a clean sweep (heat and two features) as he stormed into the lead on lap nine and held off challenges from Chris Stevens for the win. Matt was able to sneak into third by passing Joe Sereno with just a few to go as well. Damn that tricky Matt! No wonder most local kiddie-kart track drivers want nothing to do with him. They don't want to look bad. ;)

7/8/2012's 30-LAP FEATURE #2 | 11-KARTS:
START: Pos. | Driver (Karts driven) | 2012 Wins |
Joe Sereno flew off the track to avoid a prone kart, which would've been a third comical scene if not for the fact that neither camera caught it! D'oh!
This is how it went down when the checkered flag dropped. This shows just how close our racing is, folks.
