2009 Season

Our 14th Year of Points Racing at Galletta’s Greenhouse Backyard Speedway was a year of very good and very bad. First, the good: 2009 was beholden to 48 drivers who raced 22 features with an impressive 12 winners in 2009, as we utilized a new weight/power system on lighter drivers and extra motor for heavier ones who felt disadvantaged. The system was a success, as it was the most competitive year in our track history in terms of so many different feature winners.

However, the bad: We went back to being a single-track club after Oswego Kartway not only barred our karting class from competing in our fourth year there in the 2008-09 offseason (based primarily on disagreements on motor-to-weight rules amongst other issues that piled on), but salt was rubbed into the wound due to several people on the track’s message boards (including IP addresses affiliated with them) exacerbating hard feelings when they not only startlingly insulted, mocked, demeaned us during the offseason but then even upped the ante when they threatened us with bodily harm during the season.

Oswego Kartway & The Galletta’s Karting Club History (2008 – 09 Offseason; 1/30/2009)

The Galletta’s Greenhouse Backyard Karting Club raced at Oswego Speedway’s Dirt Kartway for it’s first three years of operation until disagreements about engine types and the track operator losing his temper barred us from competing there (and then mocked and threatened to kill us) after the 2009 off-season.
