(LEFT) Heat #1 was won by Robbie Jimenez chased by Ed Maynes and Matt "Mush" Stevens. (RIGHT) Heat #2 was won by Wesley James "TrOgre" Stevens chased by Chris "ChrusherComix" Stevens.

The 12-cart feature was one of the best in recent memory at Galletta's Speedway. Early on, Dick Dann (in the Galletta's rental #0) was having the best race of his rookie campaign by holding off all five of the top five points drivers, who shuffled furiously for several green laps, cautions, and restarts, until Ed Maynes finally caught him on a restart. Dick then spent a large chunk of the race holding off the big two, the founder/club owners/most experienced vets/only track champions, Chris and Matt, who shuffled back and forth behind him. When Chris and Matt finally got by Dick, they reeled in Ed who had gained a comfortable lead. When it was starting to look like a good battle was brewing, Ed's chain blew in turn three, and he had to fix and go to the back. The next few laps were Chris holding off Matt, until Chris went straight off the track in turn three, a broken front hub the culprit, and he hopped into the #10. Matt inherited the lead and appeared to have his fourth win wrapped up, until his carb gummed up on him in turn three, putting him in the back.

(LEFT) This left Wesley James "The Ogre" Stevens (1st) inheriting the lead, and he was able to hold off Ed Maynes (2nd), Rob Jimenez (3rd) for the win while, Chris (outside) and Matt (inside) battled furiously side-by-side for the final three laps behind Rick Maynes (4th). It was a virtual tie on the final lap, but Chris was awarded the close decision. (RIGHT) Ogre "thinking he's cool" with his post-race Ogarian backwards victory lap. The race was filled with competitive bumper-to-bumper and wheel-to-wheel racing, along with several spectacular accidents caught on tape, making this DVD a great one to own! Inexperienced drivers with less than 10 races and wreck-prone drivers start in the back regardless of points. NEWS: Points-per-race no longer is valid for point-standings order, as it rewards drivers who race inconsistently and hurts those who race every week (which this season is seven dedicated drivers). Points-per-race is used to determine handicapped starting position only. Your total points is your actual standing. We may have separate Summer (June-September) and Fall (October-November) point standings IF we get enough consistent, dedicated drivers. We will not split the points if this isn't the case. Chris and Matt love the drivers who race every week and are disappointed with those who don't. And remember... the Classic (usually late-September) is a make-or-break points earner, and if you race in only one race all year, this is THE one to race in. This year, we will arrange a money jackpot for the Classic, and if enough drivers are interested, we will also do it each week. Please discuss it with Matt and Chris! IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are planning on racing earlier every Sunday for the rest of the summer (we can't in June and part of July because of Greenhouse chores), so drivers, please come to the track earlier, possibly around 4-4:30pm (or call Matt for details). The earlier everyone arrives, the quicker we can get the event started and finished! Also, we will go to Oswego Speedway this Friday if we get enough drivers and kart transportation, so, again, call Matt. Thanks! Now to the next race...

DONATIONS / FEES / RENTAL KARTS:
Arrive-and-drive karts may be rented. Rental donation is bare-bones, covering gas and parts wear only! Galletta's operates on a nominal "donation fees to keep the track ready and karts running. Anything you can donate to the track and karts helps. We also allow drivers to race with us provided they agree to sign a waiver, and the land owner allows recreational karts to run under the New York Recreational Use Statute.

We run 1-wheel-drive gas flathead motors with some racing enhancements all done on site.

Bring your own kart:
- $5 donation to enter your own kart (donation to Matt for his track work, donation waived if you bring multiple racers to rent). If Matt or Wes works on YOUR owned kart, please give him MORE than this $5 bare bones tip. It's worth it, as you will NOT find another karting division ANYWHERE where the top driver and mechanic will help you have a kart capable of beating them on any given race day for so little.We LOVE racing, and we sacrifice our own karts by helping our friends, relatives and total strangers to compete against us!

Galletta's Team Kart for Regular Event (40-70 laps):
We have over 15 arrive-and-drive karts on-site, all competitive feature winners and waiting for drivers to pilot them.
- Regular Driver / Returning Veteran: $20
- Newbie Driver / Rookie Driver: $25
Ask Matt about a full-year membership rental, or rent a kart with your own motor/drive system, which would be considerably less than weekly AND have that kart reserved for you every week.

Galletta's Team Kart for Regular Event (200 laps + qualifiers):
Klassic rental will be more. Contact Matt, as deals can be made, depending on how many laps you run and if you don't break the karts!

We can help you build your own Galletta's-style kart for only a few hundred dollars. From time to time, some drivers sell their Galletta's-style karts for $200-300 as well. You will NOT be able to spend that little on a competitive, feature-winning kart in any other karting division around. Period.

Spectators:
- Spectators are free to watch! (But stay safely away from the track!)
- Pose with a kart and be counted in our points race via 1 lap? Free! Just ask!

If you have not raced with us before, you are welcome to join! We have many arrive-and-drive karts available, and you will not race with a more talented karting group, empirically proven on this website (and erased from the local pay track website because of how good of a show we put on for bottom dollar)! Even if just a lap to earn points, or race in a newbie qualifier... give it a shot. 99% of the time, people love it! 2014 will now have membership, which will help regular drivers race the full season. Galletta's Backyard Go-Kart Speedway is a free-to-race-on and free-to-watch 0.133887 mile dirt oval with 20-degree banked turns . It is located behind Galletta's Greenhouse in Oswego, NY, and can be seen from outer space! The single-wheel-drive gasoline-fueled flathead motor karts take the track between 15-17 seconds per lap which averages over 30 mph (approximately 45-50 mph top speed in the straights). Our speeds are comparable to alcohol/methanol-fueled karts that cost 8 times as much because we use mostly homemade or rebuilt go-karts and gas on a large track; leading to more karts, more competition, and more fun.
