2006 Final Galletta’s Go-Karts Total Point Standings
After 18 feature events from 6/11/2006 thru 10/07/2006
NOTE: The 75-Lapper was the final points show. The final five features, won by Matt (2), Dick (1), and Josh (2),
were counted as Fall exhibitions and won’t count in the final points standings, though they are credited as career wins:

The 2006 Post-Klassic Fall Bonus Point Series (9 features between 9/30/2006 and 11/26/2006!)

Galletta’s Go-Kart 2006 #17 from (2006/09/30) 28-laps (Rain-shortened event)

Kyle leading one of the last laps, challenged by Chris after a late-race restart. The race was shortened due to rain making the track too slick, especially for the inexperienced drivers.Rain-shortened 28-Lapper Finale:

1st  Kyle Reuter #7
2nd  Chris Stevens #8
3rd  “Flyin’ Oz” Berry #11
4th  Matt Stevens #33/3
5th  Kelly Miller #0
6th  Freddy Collins #2
7th  Dick Dann #86
8th  Wesley Stevens #4
9th  Nick Dann #02
10th  Gary “I Give Up!” Miller #24

Kyle holding off Chris a lap or two before rain shortened the race.

Here is Chris challenging Kyle for the lead on one of the final laps of the event. The rain started pouring heavily, and for the 1st time ever, a Galletta’s Go-Kart event was rain-shortened in progress; just in-time for Kyle, who spun out on the final lap, saved only by Ogre’s spin a spilt second earlier. Meanwhile, Fast Flyin’ Flippin’ Freddy did a Dukes of Hazzard jump over the small inside wall in the back stretch, landing on his head, then driving right into Kyle’s parked #7 kart (who had to be repaired so that he could resume leading the race – we allowed it because it wasn’t his fault; he wasn’t even in the kart!). Kyle then gets his 1st win and becomes the quickest feature winner at Galletta’s, though it was one of the shortest features in recent years here as well. (Chris’s notes: Sorry for the slow update, as helping my wife pack for her trip to Thailand for her sister’s wedding, and I also had no idea how to score a 28-lap event – I just made it up now based on between a 25 and 30 lap points scale.)

Galletta’s Go-Kart 2006 #18 (2006/10/07) 75-laps (Fall Endurance Championship)

Flippin' Freddy violently flips while running a strong 2nd and challenging Matt for the lead. Fred looked faster than ever, so this wreck hurt what would have likely been his best run ever!Fall 75-Lapper Finale:

Matt leading the final points race of 2006 - a 75-lapper!Here is Chris challenging Matt for the lead on a late-race restart. Though he had a couple of runs, Matt found a groove in his new #33 and pulled away for yet another win. Mattie-Jo again extends his lead and pads his slightly eroded lead in the total points standings. Meanwhile, several drivers are dropping like stones in the points as they don’t attend the races anymore… a shame considering that if every accomplished veteran driver showed up, the racing would be unbelievably competitive, especially late in the year when passing becomes more difficult. (Chris’ notes: Sorry for the slow update, but I was terribly sick with a throat/head/chest cold all last weekend and 1/2 of the week, a condition worsened by racing in the cold for this race. Also, *- We need the printed name of the “new guy” as his signature is an utterly unreadable scribble.)

Galletta’s Go-Karts & Oswego County Yard Kart Fall 2006 Championship Series:

Every year, after Klassic, we finalize the Summer Series and have a short Fall series. Due to a lack of attending drivers in the Fall and deteriorating weather, the series does not always get scored unless enough drivers attend, it gets videotaped, and someone writes the scoring down. If you want to race for points, please race in our Galletta’s Kart Club events between June-through-September. That’s the season, and post-Klassic races are almost more like practice/exhibitions that we add on only if someone helps score it. If not, we score them generically (just bonus points for the people who raced in it, and a few extra bonus points for the winners). They will count for the ALL-TIME GALLETTA’S GREENHOUSE BACKYARD KARTING SPEEDWAY POINTS & WINS LIST. Now, here they are…

Galletta’s Go-Kart 2006 #19 & #20 (2006/10/15)
30-lap “Non-winners” race and 40-lap “regular” race
It was a great night for Josh Schute, who has long been a middle-of-the-pack runner who has slowly, but steadily improved over the last year. But it was his night, as he not only won the 1st non-winner’s race of the 2006 season, but he then held on and survived a late-race accident to win the regular 40-lapper (that contained several top-gun feature-winning drivers; Matt, Chris, Ogre, and Rob – who were all collected in a 2nd-through-4th place pileup). Josh took both races away from Dick Dann, who led both events until Josh stole away the lead late when Dick’s kart mishandled in the first and blew a tire late in the second. Josh has been fast in the Galletta’s #7 since last year, and it was great to see him get a win. A great, fun, competitive night for all involved. Pictures and updated stats are forthcoming.

Crashin' Howie Seabrook at Sex-Offender Raceway! Also, the Woodland Go-kart track has opened (click here for a picture gallery including a handful of shots from the new track [in addition to several shots of some of us Galletta’s Go-Kart Club here at Galletta’s and Oswego Speedway] are on Howard Seabrook’s Small Engine Racing site here). The track looks nice, but we are trying to figure out what kind of rules they have, as they seem to be racing counter-clockwise (against their stagger?), racing on dirt with slicks, and allowing methanol karts to race with stock 5hps? Or hybrid in-between-er-karts, which would kind of disqualify them from running with our stock gas and Oswego’s racing methanols. Or do they run classes? Or just testing/practicing? And how many people are running out there? If they want us to race on their track in the future, we race clockwise and only with stock-part 5hp karts. We’ll see about next year, as it is starting to get too wet and cold this season. The track looks nice though, Great job. Maybe you could help out our track’s turns with that heavy equipment… Matt does all this track by hand, shovel, and a roller on a mower, haha! (PS – Also, Howard & Co., feel free to link to our site as I have linked to yours. Hopefully we can all get a lot more interest in new drivers for next season by our combined websites. Thanks!)

Galletta’s Go-Kart 2006 #21 (2006/10/21) 40-lap Feature
Today was Dick Danns day (er, night), as he continued leading the entirety of the race as he did last week, but this week he held off Chris and Matt for his 1st career win in his rookie campaign. Dick proves all of the big-motor whiners wrong, as he wins a feature with his all-stock 5hp engine while he weighs over 200lbs.! Great to see all these 1st-time feature winners, as it shows that everybody is improving! Pictures and updated stats forthcoming if Chris has time (but he doesn’t).

However, the night was marred by two young hoodlums who were generally incompetent, seemed stoned, spun often, stalled often, wrecked often, broke parts (including severely bending their own friend Rob’s axle [which is MY frame BTW – Rob’s mom and dad only owned the engine and the wheels, [edit: and they took them back in 2007 after we stored them and cared for them for over a year], Ogre’s hub/axle, and one of the wheels that they were driving), left early on their own accord, and then the following day, demanded their money back (even though they busted and bent several of the above mentioned parts on the karts that add up to far more than they gave in rental fees, including wasting and gas money idling while they didn’t even know how to keep their karts running let alone race) AND threatened to steal a go-kart!

The Sheriff’s Department had to be called on the “punks” (as called by the deputy; who actually used to play football with us when we were teenagers), who refused to leave until they were forced to by the deputy. The deputy, who is an old friend, advised us that we should only let close and trusted friends and family race with us, and especially nobody under 18. We thought Rob and Josh were friends, but never calling us back after the way their friends acted toward us has led us to believe otherwise. Their rebellious and wreck-prone friends are now banned, and from now on we will no longer be allowing anybody under 18 to race unless their parent/guardians are there and completely approve and/or race with them. We’ve had too many problems with teenagers not having the physical and mental maturity to handle these karts, so it stops now. The current minors (16-17 yo) who race with us all have this taken care of, as their parents/guardians have all been here, approving-of and/or racing-with us, but no more new kids unless they are over 18.

The racing at Galletta’s is all for fun amongst friends and people who genuinely love to race evenly-matched go-karts, and we don’t need underage kids more concerned about their cell phones than the actual race, then threatening to steal go-karts and forcing us to call the cops when they damaged our property and refused to leave. We believe that the self-banned Kristina Pitsley tried setting this up, and she will never again be allowed on this property without the police being called. All she has done is lost friends, and made her son and husband never race with us anymore, which only hurts them, as they used to love racing here. People causing trouble and ruining the fun and competitive racing are not invited, and from now on, if you can’t race a go-kart competently, then you won’t be allowed to race.

Update: At least one of the said hoodlums was arrested recently for smashing a car’s windshield or something along those lines. Wow, what a shocker! I guess the kid just has problems. These young whippersnappers these days… their whole lives ahead of them – girls, school, careers – and all they can do is look for, and find, trouble.

Galletta’s Go-Kart 2006 #22 (2006/11/11) 40-lap Feature:

Matt Stevens (#33) won what may have been the final exhibition race of the year. I say exhibition because we have not had a good turnout of late, its has been very cold, and I didn’t do the points. Matt was chased closely by Wesley Ogre (#4), Chris (in the #2; his #8 broke a hub), Dick Dann (#86), Oscar Berry (in Matt’s #3; the 1st visitor Matt ever allowed to race his championship kart – and he did quite well, at one point passing both Wes and Matt off a restart!), and Nick Dann (#02) rounding out the field with a DNF (poor Nick). Again, in these late season races, I have not added up the points, so this means that they are probably just exhibitions due to a lack of a large attendance, poor track conditions, and general off-season laziness by yours truly. Also, congrats to our newest and most-promising rookie driver, Kyle Reuter, who is doing a great job for the Oswego State’s basketball team! We look forward to racing with him all next season!

Galletta’s Go-Kart 2006 #23 (2006/11/26) Final Feature of 2006:

Matt Stevens (#33) won the Thanksgiving ’06 feature, the final exhibition race of the season, which wound up possibly being the muddiest race in track history. It included Wesley Ogre (#4), Dick Dann (#86), Fred Collins, Oscar Berry and Nick Dann (all in Galletta’s rentals). Webmaster and racer Chris, didn’t race because he didn’t get enough sleep, the points race is over, and there was too much mud. But not all shared this opinion, as a mud-covered Fred Collins yelled, “This is the way I love to race! WOO!!!!”  Oscar (in the Galletta’s #6) led a large portion of the race until Matt snipped him for another win. Matt made his way to the front three times partially due to the slick track.

The next race at Galletta’s Kart Points Race will take place on June 3rd, 2007 , and the next Oswego County Super-Yard Kart race at Oswego Speedway’s Dirt Track will take place on June 15th, 2007 and will count for points. DVDs anybody?

THE 2006-2007 OFF-SEASON NEWS PAGE:

February 13, 2007:

Meanwhile, Galletta’s Go-Karts has been making the news on the beacon of local racing…
The Wicked Awesome Seabrook’s Racing Page

We are honored to be mentioned so much by people who don’t race with us anymore, and some that never raced with us ever! And more yet that we’ve never even met! Not even once! Are they psychics?! Wow! Let’s post some reviews:

Seabrook Webmaster on 10/6/06:
Today Me Me And Howard Seabrook Owner Of This Site Went Up To The Woodland Raceway Track Off Of Rathburn Rd.

The Track Has Finnaly Came Along Way Into The Running Of The Gokarts. Vern And Howard Went At It In The Most Part. But Howard Man He Seems To Amaze Me He Rode All 3 Of The Karts Derreks,Verns, And His Own He Went Full Out On The Multiple Laps He Ran. He Did A Good Job So Did Vern They Tore The Track Up. But The Track Is In Good Condition And I Dont Know From Wat I Seen From Tonight Good Luck On Keepin Up To This Track Gallettas Boys

PS.Seabrooks Racing Tore Up That Track Up

Good luck not hitting a sex offender on that track, by the way. Ha! Now… Yes, it is true. Howard’s kart tears up every track!! ( by spinning out and crashing into other karts in caution.)
The “Gallettas Boys” do admit… they have an easier time maintaining a track that Howard doesn’t tear up. Well… just one spot where he spun out and hit the wall every other lap. We have many pictures, but we don’t want to fill one webpage up with 5.3 million pics. But Howard did create a new rule at Galletta’s; No matter how low your points-per-race-average is, if you are prone to spinning out, you can’t start in the front via a the handicap if you can’t keep the kart straight. The rule was invented after this debacle:

Howard Seabrook & Spongebob Squarepants kart start in the lead via their Points Handicap!Howard & Spongebob Squarepants Kart spin out in handicap lead!

We call it the Seabrook Rule! Haha! Aww… well, we’re just having fun joking. But, truthfully, please maintain your track, build and maintain 11 go-karts, and count a large and complex points standings for over a decade and get back to us about how well your track is holding up. Especially when most of the drivers racing on it rarely even completed one regular-season race at Galletta’s due to accidents and malfunctioning karts.

PS – By the way… when the Woodland Speedway goes for two decades with weekly Summer races consisting of a minimum of 6 karts and a maximum of 18 that ALL cost for points and culminate with a 150-200 lapper EVERY SINGLE YEAR, then get back to us about “keeping up”. Nice try though. Not the first, and not the last, but good try. 😉

Woodland Racetrack Opening Weekend

10/8/06

It All Started Out Fairly Even At The Track On Sunday Evening Accept For A Few Mishaps. We Had 5 Of Our Gokarts And A Methadol Kart Running Their Karts For Hot Laps. But For The Few Mishaps Vern Woodworth Blew His Engine Ha Ha Bummer :[ But Than Again Seabrooks Racing Blew A Carburator On Good Ole Spongebob But Than Again They Got The #3 Out There And Running They Did A Good Run But Derrek And The Methadol Kart Went A Few Laps And O Boy Derrek Inched His Kart Away From The Methadol But It Was A Good Run But The Track Is In Awesome Condition And Is Able To Be Ran At Any Time

P.S Vern Blows An Angine

How do you blow a stock engine? We at Galletta’s have been racing stock 5hp motors for over a decade, and we’ve never completely blown an engine. We had our fair share of broken parts, but never a full-blown motor. Now, I have heard that raptor motors blow because of the modifications, so hmm… I wonder what that means. Hmmm… well. Anyway, We are hoping that videos are available. We want to buy some.… (like you want to buy ours but never did).

Dear 5x (flyboyMike2@hotmail.com), In response to your comment, “Great to see the karts running in the right direction at Woodland Raceway, after all we’re not in England .” Do we even know you? Is there a reason for this personal attack on everybody at Galletta’s? Because we race clockwise? We race one-wheel drive with the drive-wheel on the left-hand side, and racing counter-clockwise gives you a severe push with our style karts. This enables us to efficiently own and race 10 of our own karts and have newcomers get started easily and affordably. Yet, while doing this, we approach speeds as fast as far more expensive “racing” go-karts with every day 5hp stock motors. If you’d like to respond, feel free, but please make informed comments before bashing people who you’ve never even met. We’d invite you (and anybody) to race with us anytime (but who are you, anyway?). Thanks for the burning question, at least!
How did you hear about this site?
Rumor has it that we got these guys started.

Well, that’s it for now. We love how them Woodland Trailer Park Raceway Boys can’t stop talking about us even though we barely even know them! It crashes our spell checker with all that blinking. It dazzles our eyes! By the way, we think that we should make news here too. Several saw a certain somebody (who’s reading this right now, no doubt) handing out printed copies of this go-kart site at the Oswego Speedway and bad mouthing us to everybody we know last summer. I got some nasty reactions, too (I guess nobody has a sense of humor or something). Anyway, people with glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, as we also heard rumors about nearly every single person who ever came here to race from this very same person as well. So, it isn’t hard to imagine that this person made up stuff about us too, especially with the evidence of people that we considered friends not talking to us anymore, and now people that we have never met taking potshots at us on a website by one of the people that we saw handing out papers of our site. Contrary to gossiping opinions, we all just love to race, race clean, race fair, have a good time doing an intricate points standings, enjoy our race videos, and have a ball doing this website. But, at least some people with a sense of humor have told me how much they appreciated it. Seriously, we love to race seriously and joke around afterwards, so we’d hope that everyone understands that and joins the fun. And ‘Till next time, here is a history lesson…

THE HISTORY OF GALLETTA’S RACING
Early Pictures

EDIT: Of course, this is just a friendly jab to Howard & crew because we love racing with him and hope he races at Galletta’s, Oswego, and Woodland racetracks all season. We only joke because they joked about us on their site, Haha! But seriously…

February 14, 2007:
Galletta’s Go-Karts Announces Summer Schedule:
The Galletta’s Go-Karts announced that, per usual, we begin our Galletta’s Speedway season tentatively on the first or second Sunday in June. Contact Matt for details, and try to talk him into the first weekend!). We will also race at Oswego Speedway’s dirt track in our exclusive Galletta’s Brand Stock-part 5-horsepower flathead Briggs and Stratton Clockwise Class.

February 15, 2007:
Galletta’s Go-Karts Updates the website for the 2007 Winter Season:
The Galletta’s Go-Kart website has been updated with the finalized 2006 point standings and a recap of our exciting Klassic Championship race on the index page. Also new, is a new (and highly tongue-in-cheek)Galletta’s Speedway Historical Picture Gallery, and finally an updated rules section that shows pictures of the type of motors and (the only non-stock parts that we allow) nylon dippers that we exclusively run in our stock 5hp karting class. Oh yeah, also new is this news section.

February 23rd, 2007:
The Oswego Speedway announces their 2007 schedule (including Karting Series):
The Oswego Speedway has announced that on Thursday, 5/03/2007 at 5:00pm, the Oswego Speedway Dirt Karting Season Begins their racing season on their Clay Track Oval. Thursday Night Races run from May 3rd, 2007 through September 28th. We at Galletta’s plan on racing the Galletta’s stock 5 horsepower class for the full Summer season. However, for Galletta’s Go-Kart founder/drivers–MattChris, andWesley Stevens–attendance in May will probably be sporadic due to Galletta’s Greenhouse’s selling season, which begins May 1st and culminates Memorial Day; our biggest weekend of the year. This takes up most of our time, and is also the main reason why the Galletta’s racing season traditionally does not begin until June, when our workload decreases enough for us to prepare our karts and track. Count on a full season of Galletta’s stock 5hp racing almost every weekend from June through October.

March 3rd, 2007: Seabrook Racing Announces, “We’ll Be Back!”
Howard Seabrook’s team has announced to us that they want to come back! We were speculating that they didn’t want to come back anymore because they stopped coming midway through the 2006 season and were picking on us on their website. But we’re thrilled that they’ll be coming back. Seabrook Racing Inc. updated their website for the 2007 season, and it looks better than ever! Howard & Co. also posted a lengthy and informative question and answer email that we had with them here, meant to try and clarify some issues. It’s looking like another large field showing in 2007!

March 19th, 2007: Fred involved in snowmobile accident!? NOOOO!!!
We are very sorry to inform you that Fearlessly Fast Freddy Collins broke his hip racing a snowmobile. We hope Freddy heals well and can race, as he has attended more races than any other visiting driver since the 2004 Fall racing season. Our prayers are with him. He said, “I hope I heal in time for the season! I don’t know how well I’ll be able to sit in the kart!”

March 20th, 2007: Rob quits?! Huh?
Two separate informants reported to us that the 2006 Visitors Champion Rob Jimenez claims that he will no longer be racing with us (well, he didn’t use “us”, apparently he used some really nasty and insulting names for us). We don’t know why, because Rob has drastically improved to the point of being a top-three contender, and we’ve always been extremely kind and helpful to Rob, including Chris letting him use the #5 (Chris’s very own kart that he won the 2000-2001 Championships with) for two full years. Very strange indeed. His premature retirement means that Chris re-inherits his #5 for the 2007 season if Rob indeed doesn’t race! Rob also has some explaining to do because last season his two immature juvenile buddies caused trouble, causing us to ban any further racing with teenagers without parental consent AND racing experience based on the advice of a member of the sheriff’s department — who actually didn’t have much nice to say about the situation — and several adult racers.

March 21st, 2007: Gary Gets a New Motor
Galletta’s Racing Association (AKA Chris and Matt) has helped Gearin’ Gary Miller win a motor on ebay! We are betting on it being a fast one, as Matt, Wes, Rob Jimenez, Dick Dann, Ed Meynes, Rick Meynes, and Jason Mills all were extremely fast all season using USED motors they won off ebay in 2006! We’re excited and hope Gary returns to racing full-time, as motor problems kept him out of a large chunk of the racing season. GO, GARY, GO! If you are a visiting driver in need of a motor, just contact us at anytime. Matt will even get it race-ready for you (for a small fee for parts and time) too! UPDATE: Oscar gets a new motor too! And it is sweet! Almost brand-new!

March 25th, 2007: Rules Update/Clarifications
Due to a handful of requests, I put more specifications up in the rules section, including motor and frame categories. In short, no changes, just specifying that we allow lighter frames and racing header/mufflers for drivers that weigh close to or in excess of 200 lbs.. Since most of our class weigh far less than 200 lbs. this rule won’t affect most of our veteran drivers, but it will hopefully bring some more drivers into our friendly group of racers. Again, everything else should be stock, as all eleven Galletta’s House Karts and most of the visiting karts have 100% stock motors (with the exception of hand-shaved heads and vinyl oil dippers). I also experimented with the colors in order to be less eye straining.

March 25th, 2007: Driver Registry
We are interested in collecting names of the drivers/teams that plan to race on both opening day and the majority of the season. Email us or join our email group, which largely goes unused because nobody joins that damn thing. DAMN! I KNOW YOU’RE READING! I SEE YOU! EMAIL ME! 😛

March 29th, 2007: Chris’s Children’s Book on sale NOW!
Probably most of the Galletta’s Go-Kart regulars don’t know that Chris (yours truly) is a cartoonist/graphic artist, not just a go-kart racer. Well, Chris’s first published work, a children’s book called, “Tee & Wee: Health and Nutrition for Young Earthlings” is now finally available for sale, and he’d be honored if you would buy it! Actually, he’s begging you. He may even throw a race or two to sell some copies! Haha. Please get more info by clicking the banner here:

TEE AND WEE CHILDREN'S BOOK
Chris’ co-created children’s book, Tee and Wee, is ON SALE NOW:

Chris has been a cartoonist/graphic artist his entire life, but this is his first work to see print and be available for sale. It was co-created and written by a friend named Robert Buchanan, and it is about two lovable aliens that try to teach earth children the importance of eating a healthy diet and getting proper exercise. Chris has two websites that show his work for free: A family-friendly comic strip named “Towner,” and a sometimes goofy, sometimes serious comic book/graphic novel called “Chrusher.” Chris would love to thank all 0 of you who have viewed my comics! Thanks all!
