6/26/2015 – Matt Stevens Steals BOTH Twin-35s from bro Chris thanks to Ogre’s new NO Passing Flag Rule! (PLUS… Lytle ON FIRE on YouTube!!!)

 photo 2015-06-26-matt-sweeps-fiery-adam.jpg
FRIDAY, JUNE 26TH, 2015, OSWEGO, NY – Originally scheduled for Sunday, July 28th, 2015, seeing another rainy weekend looming on the horizon in the Oswego/Central NY forecast (we simply cannot remember a cooler and rainier June in our lives!), all active club drivers elected to instead hold yet another preemptive Friday Night race. Friday, June 26th, 2015 at 7pm it went down. Keith Raymond and George Sweeting had tremendous drives and held early advantages until Chris Stevens was able to squeeze by for the lead in both features. But then, in BOTH features, head flagger Wesley James “TrOgre” Stevens didn’t throw the passing flag, and BOTH TIMES, Matt Stevens snuck by for two wins to pad his all-time feature win lead of all Oswego Karters. By two. Again. If there were spectators around, people would be accusing the track official of skulduggery in helping Matt! But in reality, we need FLAGGERS and CAMERA OPERATORS as bad as we need drivers, as Wes cannot count laps and operate flags/caution lights. Races may have to come to a halt unless we have more help on said duties. Volunteers and racers… step forward! Also… in the 2nd feature, with close, even, fast and furious open-wheel racing, crazy things CAN happen. And they did… check out Adam Lytle taking a wild (and fiery) ride after hooking a wheel with Brian Galletta and collecting Eric Woolworth!

1st 35-Lap Feature Start:
1. George Sweeting (Sweeting Racing #81)
2. Keith Raymond (Galletta’s Greenhouse #6)
3. Melissa Stevens (Scissors n’ Fur #19)
4. Kevin Galletta (Galletta Bros. #54)
5. Adam Lytle (Lytle Racing #33c)
6. Matt Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse/Chrusher.com #42)
7. Eric Woolworth (Woolworth #88)
8. Chris Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse/R&C Sushi LLC/Chrusher.com #4)
9. Brian Galletta (Galletta Bros. #42)

Keith Raymond again ran very well in the Galletta’s Greenhouse #6 while his #88 is in need of a new motor. Here he holds off Matt and Chris Stevens, until lap traffic cost Keith the lead to Chris in the Galletta’s #4, which was fast despite sputtering! However, lapped traffic again changed the lead, as the #74 of Matt Stevens then passed Chris using it! Chris was exceedingly upset that no passing flag was thrown, and after the race, grabbed it and flung it in flagger Wes “Ogre” Stevens’ face, as he apparently forgot what it is.

Shot from early in the 2nd feature, showing  many pass attempts in the back turn. Here 1st year rookie George Sweeting (in the former D.S. Humphrey’s #81 that got a tune-up by Matt) showed marked improvement by leading the 1st 19 laps of the race! Very impressive for the rookie!

Chris Stevens charging hard in the 2nd feature once again! The action was close and precise in the early stages!

However, every once in a while, with close, even, competitive open-wheeled racing, a wheel can hook another looking for the same spot and some crazy stuff can happen. That it did here. The #42 of Brian Galletta and #33c of Adam Lytle somehow hooked tires and each spun out of control. It appears that the #33c also collected the #78 of Eric Woolworth, and the two of them took a sharp inside turn, ending with Lytle flipping head over heels and getting powerbombed. When it went over, the #33c lit up like a Christmas tree on Christmas morning. An impromptu bonfire erupted on Lytle’s motor. It was put out with only a melty air cleaner. Eric got scared a bit, but made it out okay, just retired for the evening. Brian also came to a rest at the flag tower, and although also unharmed, he also pulled off for the night. Lytle suffered a slight concussion but was medically cleared to run next weekend.

CRASH! BANG! BOOM! POOM!
Watch Brian Galletta and Adam Lytle wreck, sending Adam into Eric Woolworth and his kart flipping into the infield, and his motor lighting on fire!

[Edit: Ow! Quick, low-res shot of the wreck was uploaded, and then deleted by Photosuckatitbucket. See it in HD on YouTube instead here:]

Chris was able to take 1st on lap-20 and storm off to an impressive lead. However, lapped traffic again came and again the passing flag did not wave. Chris then again got trapped behind a lapped kart by his brother, who then stormed off himself to sweep the twin 35s. The #0 was suffering a slow leaking drive tire, and although Chris barely held on to 2nd with Kevin and Keith breathing down his neck, he wound up damaging a sprocket. Again, Chris was even MORE livid, and threw the passing flag at the woods and stormed off in protest. He suggested more flagger/spotter/lap counters and more camera people were needed before we race anymore for the safety of the drivers and so nobody gets screwed.

2nd 35-Lap Feature Finish:

4. Keith Raymond (Galletta’s Greenhouse #6)
5. George Sweeting (Sweeting Racing #81)

7. Adam Lytle (Lytle Racing #33c) – DNF
8. Eric Woolworth (Woolworth #88) – DNF

YouTube channel updating again!!!!

 photo YouTube-Karting-Homiepage.jpg = https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb272/GallettasGoKarts/YouTube-Karting-Homiepage.jpg~original

Thanks to the tireless work of our camerawoman Rungnapha Stevens (and occasionally others — like Gene Galletta, myself, Melissa Stevens, or a webcam vid from Matt Stevens — but since 2005, mostly just her), getting broadband internet in our rural area (trust me, you peeps with cable are spoiled and have NO idea how nice you have it even with periodic lapses… try NEVER having it!), and Chris putting some tedious work in on a nice video editor, We’ve began to get back to work on YouTube videos. In addition, we will be putting up every single race that we have ever videotaped and can find as soon as we can, so… enjoy!
