8/28/2015 – Adam “AJ” Lytle leads green to checker in a Full-Moon, 14-Kart, 40-Lap event!

 photo 20150828-lytle-wins-full-moon-14-kart-40-lapper.jpg
FRIDAY, AUGUST 29th, 2015, OSWEGO, NY – Eight newbie 1st-timer rookies showed up (although some had prior racing experience), and with four 2015 regulars and a returning veteran (former Klassic 200 and multi-time flatty and 1/4 midget champ Kyle Reuter), FOURTEEN karts started the 40-lap feature! The biggest feature we’ve had in a handful of years, and the most in recent memory to say the least (one may have to go back to 2007 or 2008 to find a field that big)! As usual with many 1st-time racers on the track at once AND a full-moon, many cautions slowed the evening down considerably. But after things settled down, the rookies proved that they could race (at least between the cautions). But polesitter Adam Lytle picked up another full moon race, which he clearly specializes in, as all but one or two of his wins have come on such evenings! However, Lytle seems to be catching a little bit of his kart’s former owner’s quit-itis, as he claims he’d sell his kart if he had a buyer.

WEBMASTER’S NOTE: I apologize that the points, pics, and more took a week to do. My wife and I getting back to work with our small business in addition to a website update problem and many errands to run all week has slowed me down on this considerably… this website is a hobby and I don’t get paid for it, so it isn’t #1 on my priority list [Hint: Ad clicks ARE appreciated to pay for the site’s hosting, by the way! If it made a few bucks (which I never have done in 10 years of doing it, and hosting has come partly or completely from my own pocket), higher priority it would become! Thanks!]. Add at all those whiny excuses I have, a 15-kart race consisting of 8 drivers who have never raced here before and it is more work than it looks. We don’t have AMB scoring and paid Speedway spokespeople to do all the work for us, just lil’ ol me – unpaid volunteer webmaster/statistician/video producer AND racer – Chris Stevens (who also co-runs a sushi business with his wife and has a 1 year old daughter to chase around on top of that). So it may have taken 2 & 1/2 weeks, but it’s finally done! So again, I apologize, but please… ENJOY!

A full moon was out which meant two things: Adam Lytle is due for a feature win and there may be MANY cautions involving new guys. The last few years it’s seemed to go that way. And go that way it did. While the rookies were all passionate, that passion sometimes causes a few too many accidents and karts breaking down when new drivers are all friends and trying to beat each other but not holding solid lines and/or spinning out. And a few just broke from the track falling a part mid-race. So many cautions plagued an otherwise great night of racing. We hope the rookies come back to race more often, and get a hang of the karts and track – it happens often, but sometimes the guys who can’t finish a race to save their lives in the 1st time at the track wind up being some of the best drivers the track has had if they keep at it. Points leader Chris Stevens was forced to the rear twice after getting caught in a wreck with Kyle Reuter and Keith Raymond, lost the brakes in the #4 and tried to get his #8 out there, chain popped off and he had to go back to the #4 to get up to 4th on the at the stripe with no brakes. Reuter looked strong in the top 3-4 all night, but the #5 broke down and forced him out. Yep, it was just that kind of night. And although many rookies broke their karts before the race’s end, a few did finish and looked good, including former Supermodified driver Jason Spaulding! However, Lytle led all 40 laps, although he did have that crafty ol’ Matt Stevens hounding him for many laps.
