Visitor’s Kart #28 / 39

Randy Platt built the Platt-Num #28 from scratch in time for the start of the 2011 Season. Randy drove it on and off until Brian Galletta bought the kart later that year and drove it on and off when he was healthy enough to race. He then owned the kart for his brother Kevin Galletta, who raced it often.

When Brian Galletta lost his lifelong battle with Kidney Disease on Christmas 2019, Kevin was too heartbroken to race it often and sold it to Travis Bartlett, who re-numbered it Kraken Racing #39 in 2022. It has many Feature wins, but also a few comical wrecks! Enjoy!

Hijinx…

Randy Platt was DOMINA-F’N-ATING in the #28 in its maiden voyage on the track, blowing away the heat and running string in the feature. Until… the steering column broke. This would be the 1st, but *FAR FROM* the last time this happened…

Brian Galletta, driving his new purchase – the Platt-itute #28 built by his buddy Randy Platt – snapped the drivewheel axle bolt at the weld and went for a wild flip in turn 1. In the video, you can hear it rumbling before it enters the video’s frame, then we see it. BOOM! Click here for the video.

Extended Kart Profile

Galletta Bros./Platt-Num Racing #28: Formerly the #287, as the sequel to the #187, the kart was 1st known for flying into the woods when the steering column broke in its debut race in 2011 with Randy Platt and flipping on Brian Galletta and inappropriately invading the personal space of his hind section (see Brian’s driver profile for video evidence). Brian and his brother Kevin Galletta have driven it since 2012, and with Brian’s retirement due to medical reasons, it is primarily Kevin’s kart.
2019 UPDATE: Brian passed away Christmas 2019. His kart remained at Galletta’s in his name and honor and is driven primarily by his brother Kevin, until Kevin sold it to Travis Bartlett in 2022.
