July 17th, 2022 – “Okay, No Pool This Time, But I Ran Over That Bunny!” 25 & 20-Lappers!

OSWEGO, NEW YORK – Sunday, July 17th, 2022 – Four features, four different winners! The racing has unfortunately been starting late (we had a nearly 2-year delay, after all, so we’re all out of our groove), but it has been extremely close, competitive, quick, and clean when it finally does start. Nicolas Olivares (in the Galletta’s Racing #1) started on the pole and held off challenges by Chris Stevens (in the Galletta’s Racing #8) for the 25-lap feature win, and Andrew Hook (in the Galletta’s Racing #0) did the same and held off challenges from Matt Stevens (in the Galletta’s Racing #74) to get that monkey off his back and collect his first career feature win in the 20-Lap Feature win.

Oh… and…. Um, so that bunny we missed last week. Um… yeah… he didn’t make it.  R.I.P….

Before the races, three drivers (a veteran and two newbie rookies) left due to a late start. We deeply apologize, as this has been a long-running problem for our karting club. Ever since the 1990s, we sometimes start late and get out late, and when it happens too much, people lose patience and leave. We will strive to start earlier, but on the flipside… when we actually DO start early enough, that’s when nobody shows up for race day! We can’t win, sometimes.

So although the races started too late for all of our tastes, when they actually did start, they were very close, very competitive, and pretty clean.

Further Notes:
– Zero cautions in feature #1, and three cautions in feature #2 — one for a sputtering carb on the Bartlett #39 (which he jumped into the #5 to finish the race) and two spins/collections (Nic spun into Chris on one; Lance spun into Chris for the other).
– We sadly ran over a juvenile bunny… that was 1st… since they’re usually pretty scared of noisy things like karts and usually fast and evasive creatures. Not that one, apparently. We’ve hit a few frogs, toads, and mice before, but this was our 1st rabbit.
