“Only at Galletta’s can a racer bring your A-Game and have some dude in an old beat-up Manco Yard Kart humble you.”
– Someone Probably…
Our oldest kart. Originally a 1980s neon green machine Manco yard kart owned by Dave Scruton and rebuilt several times in the 1990s by Wes and Matt Stevens, the #3 was painted red and yellow to look like one of Matt and Chris’ favorite Oswego Supermodifieds, the Doug Didero Skip Matczak #3 that dominated the Speedway and won 3 track championships and a Classic 200 in the mid-1990s. It is owned and driven by Matt Stevens (but was also driven by his now-wife Melissa Gabel Stevens in 2007). Has the most races, feature wins, and Klassic wins of all Galletta’s karts, and Matt swears that despite its age, it is the best handling kart of all. His countless wins in it back him up.

Galletta’s Greenhouse Racing Team #3 is Matt Stevens‘ oldest kart. It is THE first Galletta’s Hybrid Racing kart and is the ALL-TIME WINNINGEST KART IN HISTORY of ANY known karting division. Originally a 1980s Manco neon green machine yard kart–originally owned by one of Chris’ childhood friends Dave Scruton–and rebuilt several times in the 1990s by Wes and Matt Stevens. The newly rebuilt and now numbered #3 was painted red and yellow in honor of one of Matt and Chris’ favorite Oswego Supermodified racing teams, the Doug Didero – Skip Matczak #3.
Has the most races, feature wins, and Klassic wins of all Galletta’s karts, and Matt swears that despite its age, it is the best handling kart of all. His countless wins in it back him up. This kart and driver are proof that people who buy new karts every year don’t really have what it takes. This old clunky-looking racing-adapted yard kart is unrivaled in its rich history of victories. Challengers wanted, please apply.

Paint Job Homage

As many local race fans may recognize, Matt’s oldest kart was painted in homage to one of Matt and Chris’ favorite Oswego Supermodified racing teams, the Doug Didero-drove/Skip Matczak-owned #3 that did a fair amount of dominating the Speedway winning three straight Track Championships and a Classic 200 in the mid-1990s.
