We may not get our annual 200-Lap Championship in due to a lack of regular drivers (yet again?!), but we still got an excellent couple of races in!

Saturday, November 5th, 2022 – Galletta’s Greenhouse Karting 2022 Season Week #17: Another weekend and another mixed bag. The bad was this was yet another disappointing weekend continuing our unfortunately sparsely populated 2022 season where only a single race event had a full show (meaning every available kart was full and in the race). This also was the 7th weekend in a row where we could not gather enough guest drivers to race the Klassic, although this weekend came the closest, a handful of vets pulled out on race day. The good news is we had a returning veteran racer and two newcomer guests – an SBS driver and his brother. And other than we didn’t have enough drivers, the racing didn’t disappoint!

Eric Woolworth’s return set up an excellent battle for the top 3 spots as Chris (in the Galletta’s #8) and Matt Stevens (in the Galletta’s #74) were neck and neck behind him (in the Galletta’s #78). When the leaders caught up with the lapped traffic of 1st-time driver Steve Larkin (in the Galletta’s #7), Eric got boxed in leading to Chris and Matt both ducking under it. Chris emerged with the lead and took the win.

Newcomers of SBS Driver AJ Larkin and his younger brother Steve took the newbie’s choice challenge in the 2nd of a twin feature by electing to do a full race invert, trying to race up front with the vets. And they did quite well, as they held off the rest of the field in the early going. However, the Galletta’s #9’s axle broke, which transplanted its driver AJ Larkin into the Galletta’s #5.
Eric Woolworth’s tie rod came loose entering the 1st corner, which sent him into a reasonably soft landing into the tire catch fence next to the tower.
Matt Stevens was able to take the lead, but clearly was not doing his usual pull away. The #74 was developing a leak in the drive tire, which slowed him down considerably and set up a tremendous battle. After a few cautions for spins and crashes, Chris Stevens (this time in the Galletta’s #4) was able to get by and take the lead, earning a rare sweep of a twin feature event!
