68th. Dan Murdock
1,106.5 Points | 2 Wins (13%) | 15 Feature Races [2004 Last Active Update]
Daniel Murdock was a rookie racer in 2004 and won two feature races, the Summer Visitor’s Point Standings, and Rookie-of-the-Year for the season. His only low-point of his excellent rookie campaign was being being taken out of a top spot via being wrecked a handful of times (by Team Maynes Jason Mills, who was docked points for his involvement in many wrecks during the event). His preferred kart was the Galletta’s Greenhouse Racing Team #1.
In Memoriam…
Sadly, Dan died far too young during the off-season in a tragic snowmobile accident.
He was a smart, talented, well-mannered, and exceptionally nice young man with his life ahead of him and who loved our racing club, and all of us at Galletta’s miss him. Wed like to think he may have still been racing with us for a few years at the very least, as he loved the racing here as much as we loved racing with him, (and his friends sadly were too disturbed by Dan not being at the races anymore that they couldn’t bring themselves to continue, and all retired early in the 2005 season).
He was named the 2004 Rookie-of-the-Year (a title he shared with Ed Maynes, the Fall Series top visiting point earner; see more here), and the Summer 2004 Visiting Points Champion. We named the 2005 Galletta’s Klassic the The Dan Murdock Memorial in his honor. On that day, we all felt like he was watching us from heaven. Our thoughts and prayers were with his family over the difficult and nonsensical loss… May God bless.
