Welcome to the Galletta’s Greenhouse Karting Club & Backyard Speedway’s website!

OCTOBER 2014 - TWENTY-THREE KARTS, ALL TIMING WITHIN 0.66 SECONDS OF EACH OTHER ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE 19TH RUNNING OF THE KLASSIC 200. MOST ARE UNFILLED. WHY DON'T YOU BECOME THE NEXT GALLETTA'S KARTING CLUB DRIVER AND TRY TO BECOME THE NEXT GALLETTA'S KLASSIC CHAMPION?

Over 23 arrive-and-drive Karts are available. All-time trialed less than 1 second apart on a large track. Drivers needed to fill them in 45-60 lap point races every weekend between June through all Summer, culminating with our season finale in late September – the 200-Lap Galletta’s Karting Klassic!

gallettaskarting2013logo200pxWhat We Do: We race customized backyard racing go-karts weekly on a dirt track behind Galletta’s Greenhouses in the Town of Oswego, New York, USA. We’re mostly just a bunch of friends and family, but always looking for more drivers to join us! What We’re About: Founded in the early 1990s, Galletta’s Karting Club & Backyard Speedway was created to race go-karts as competitively as we can for as purposefully affordable as we can (via rules), using karts that are hybrid – something between a prefabricated racing kart and a yard kart that can race fast and safe on both pay tracks and backyard tracks alike, all the while having drivers that are highly talented and experienced racers WITHOUT spending wars. The original, longest-running, and largest karting class in the area, we are also the easiest to join — we have over 20 equally fast, feature-winning, arrive-and-drive karts and over the years of hundreds of races have amassed a massive list of hundreds of drivers join into the weekly Summer-Fall races. If you like it, rent, build, or buy your own for a few hundred dollars to join and compete (instead of a few thousand like most pay track classes to take to join and compete, as we CAP the type or parts and prices). And, some of the more experienced drivers at Galletta’s have been racing more than a decade before any of the local pay tracks were built and some have hundreds of more races under their belts. Come race where Kyle Reuter once called, “the Rucker Park of karting.”

2025 Regular Season… A Constant State of Delay…

The 2025 Season is tentatively set to begin sometime in June, July, August, September 2025.

June 2025: Due to track operator / kart mechanic Matt Stevens having a lot of greenhouse work ahead of him (the winter season of 2025 has been EXTREMELY hard on the greenhouse roofs) along with the usual issue of not having a track work vehicle (please contact us if anyone has one in mind for us to either buy or partially barter for), races will need to be planned out in advance with active drivers (contact us with interest). July 2025: We have finally made progress (thanks to Eric Woolworth for ussing his truck for track work) to hold a few races and have had interested racers. However, a slow greenhouse season has greatly reduced Matt’s time for kart/track work, as he is forced to water more. But even more than that, for the second year in a row, another extremely large tree branch blew down onto the track and we are looking into safe and affordable ways to take care of it.

August 2025: YAY! Thanks to two Matts — Matt Stevens (who chipped away at it) and especially Mat Bob (who got the biggest problem area down) — we can finally go racing for the first time in 2025!

We were looking at Labor Day weekend between Oswego Speedway Classic action) and Matt was initially aiming for Saturday, August 30th, 2025. However, Matt was too busy with his greenhouse and family duties, and along with no drag, we were unable to race.

***NOTE*** ANYONE WHO CAN DONATE/TRADE/SELL OUR CLUB A VEHICLE FOR TRACK WORK, PLEASE CONTACT US! SINCE MATT’S OFF-ROAD TRACK WORK VEHICLE WENT DOWN, WE HAVE NOT HAD ONE AND MATT CANNOT WORK ON THE TRACK IN HIS SPARE TIME LIKE HE USED TO.

September 2025: Despite not getting in a regular season race thus far, we aimed to hold our 200-Lap Klassic on Saturday, September 27th, 2025. However, Matt *STILL* needs a work track vehicle (contact us if you can find us one, it does *NOT* have to be road worthy, just be able to drive around our track). If we can get one, we may be able to get more races in before or after that date. ATV, lot truck, anything! But it happened. It *FINALLY* happened…

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th, 2024 – THE 28TH RUNNING OF THE GALLETTA’S GREENHOUSE KARTING KLASSIC 200-LAPPER!

Yes! We got our 200-Lapper in! This page is under construction, but here is what we have so far…
