7/15/2007 – Hysterical Go-Kart Flips & 13-Kart/50-Lapper won by Matt Stevens (+YouTube)
Galletta’s 2007 Race #7: 7/15/2007 50-Lapper:
Matty-Joey Stevens takes his third Galletta’s Speedway feature of 2007 at to add to his two Oswego Speedway features. He dispatched the rest of the 13-kart field with his trademark inside passes and then held off late challenges by Gary Miller Sr., Kyle Reuter, Jason Mills, and Chris Stevens to take command of the points standings. His brother Chris gave him a late charge, but to no avail. Nobody in the stock 5hp class can stop Matt! The track was smoother than it has ever been and will only improve when our clay gets delivered.
2007 Volume #7 DVD:
Contains the July 13th, 2007 races from Oswego Speedway, and the July 15th, 2007 races at Galletta’s. 3 hours of racing action in anamorphic 16:9 widescreen video with Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo Surround Sound Audio.
Read on to see a preview of the contents of this disc:
HEAT 1:
The first heat race featured two 1st-time rookies, Mike “MC” Howell and Buck Bates…
…however, Jason Mills decided to get some practice in during their heat to race with his friend Buck. This then wound up giving us two hysterical highlight reel wrecks! Thankfully Jason was ok, and man we got some laughs! “MC” also flipped a few times in the feature with the Kelly-mobile Super-9!

HEAT 2:
The second heat was won by Matt Stevens, followed by Kyle Reuter, Missy Berry, Jason Mills, Nick Dann, and Melissa Gabel.
Heat 3:
The third heat was won by Wes Stevens, followed by Dick Dann, Gary Miller, Chris Stevens, and Oscar Berry. Actually, nobody passed anybody in this race, Oscar just dropped out with carb problems.
THE LARGEST DIRT KARTING CLASS IN OSWEGO RIDES AGAIN – OUR FEATURE EVENT:
Missy Berry leads the 13-kart field for the opening laps, until Matt Stevens passes her on lap 10. Then, watch a large pileup occur the very next lap!
Thanks to the help of Oswego Speedway dirt track operator Jim Losurdo, we were able to make the track smoother than it has been in the last year or two, and the straights smoother and wider than ever. We can get around 4-wide now! With the clay (due to arrive this week – we hope), the track will be better than it has ever been in its 17-year history!
Mike “MC” Howell flipped a handful of times in the Kelly-Miller-Mobile #9, making him the third person to race and flip the vehicle. Here is one angle from one of his wild rides. There are more on the DVD ($3 each, and better quality – I’m limited on the quality on the interwebs, sirs and ma’ams.).
Here is the hard-fought final lap of the evening, showing Matt Stevens holding off his brother (Yours truly, Chris Stevens), Jason Mills and Dick Dann for his 3rd feature win of the year at Galletta’s. Curses, that darn Matty-Jo!
July 15th, 2007 50-lap final order of finish: (1st) Matt Stevens #33; (2nd) Chris “ChrusherComix” Stevens #5; (3rd) Jason Mills #6; (4th) Dick Dann #86; (5th) Nick Dann #68; (6th) Wes “Ogre Stevens #4; (7th) Buck Bates #7; (8th) Mel Gabel #3; (9th) MC Howell #9; (10th) Missy Berry #M11; [The rest Did Not Finish] (11th) Kyle Reuter #0/1; (12th) Oscar Berry #11; (13th) Gary “The Quitter” Miller #24.
HISTORIC RECORD BREAKING NEWS FLASH: Gary Miller Sr. un-retires for the 17th time since 2005 and then re-retires for the 18th time while driving in 2nd place! That’s our Gary! (Studio audience laughs & applauds.) Also, a few people got profile updates. Check them all out on the below thumbnails in the points grid to see who did (And tell me if you want yours updated).

July 13th, 2007 at Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified Yard Kart Class:
Matt Stevens (in the Galletta’s #33), Wes Stevens (in the Galletta’s #4) and Kyle Reuter (in the Galletta’s #5) of the Galletta’s Go-Kart Club raced at Oswego Speedway’s Dirt Track during the Old Timer Reunion for the 2nd money race of the season. The heat was won by Mark Miller followed by Eric Raponi, Mike Billion, Kyle Reuter, Matt Stevens, Wes Stevens, and Joe Hayden. Chris Stevens and others stayed him in protest against the actions of #83 last week and the track’s lack of punishment against him.
The feature was dominated early by Wes Stevens and Kyle Reuter, who pulled away and were putting laps on last week’s winner, Joe Hayden. But while trying to pass Joe to put him 2 laps down, leader Kyle got in a loose patch and he and the Ogre wrecked together. This then set up the battle that it has been coming down to all year in Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified Yard Kart division: Eric Raponi vs. Matt Stevens. On the final lap, Matt was able to dive under Eric and capture the close win. Matt and Eric were followed by Wes Stevens, Kyle Reuter and Mark Miller on the lead lap. Joe Hayden was 1 lap down and Mike Billion, got a DNF after wrecking with 2 laps to go.

All pictures and video clips are from the DVD. Contact me if you’d like to buy a copy. This week is 3 hours and the full week of racing all inside from 2 different widescreen camera angles and great stereo surround sound! Only $3. Can’t beat that (I’m crazy to sell them that cheap, but I want people to see ’em! We put on a great show, always!)
2007 Volume #7 DVD:
Contains the July 13th, 2007 races from Oswego Speedway, and the July 15th, 2007 races at Galletta’s. 3 hours of racing action.
The next Galletta’s Points race is set for Sunday, July 22nd, 2007. We were able to take a grate to it so it is much smoother than it has been all year, but still awaiting the clay (due this week). Qualifying events (Rookie/Novice Qualifier Race and/or Veteran Heats) will begin at 6:00pm if enough competitors arrive by then, and the final heat &/or Feature will begin shortly after 7pm (two Galletta’s regulars cannot arrive before then). Please do not come later than 7pm if you want to race, though you may come any time between 6-7pm to help out, watch or race in the show. The grill will be fired up if enough spectators arrive, so come on out! Bring your own stock 5hp kart or rent one of our Galletta’s backup/rentals.
