9/12/2010 – Randy “Hard As F*** Bobandi” Platt Wins 11-kart/45-Lap Feature Event [+YouTube]
Despite what some local racers and race fans may believe, the passing of Labor Day last weekend, does not mean that racing is done. Not even by a long shot, son. Especially not if you are a karter, as the Klassic Championship 200 has not even arrived yet…
The 15th Annual Galletta’s Karting Klassic 200 of 2010 : Will be on — unless weather or inability for multiple regulars to race forces a change — be on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010, with a cookout and time-trials starting in the early afternoon and the 200-Lapper starting as soon as the qualifiers and the drivers are all set to go. We prefer Saturday so we can make it a long day-and-night without work or school the next day and avoid NFL football Sunday. If you’d like to be involved in the cookout, either donate some money for food or bring the food on race day, per usual for our Klassic Cookout. Please let Chris and Matt know if this date is an absolute no-can-do, because it looks to be the best date for our schedule due to Matt and Melissa’s every-other-Saturday bowling schedule and NFL on Sundays. More below.
FREE YOUTUBE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK’S RACE DVD:

(Part 1 of 2) – Qualifiers & Crazy Crashes
Oswego Dirt Karting Club – Galletta’s 2010/9/12
(Part 2 of 2) – The Revenge of Randy 45
Per usual, other than posing pictures, all in-action race snapshots are screen captures directly from our weekly race DVDs, which document the entire race from usually two camera angles, usually are anywhere between 1 – 2 & 1/2 hours, and are only $5 each, in higher quality resolution than our YouTube vids which they are made from. Just like the donations that run all of the karts, all proceeds go back into the club (in this case the DVDRs and the website). Every regular season race has been videotaped since mid-2005-and-up, and every Galletta’s Karting Klassic has been videotaped since 1998-and-up. Order any DVD directly from Chris (email, phone, in-person, mail) anytime.
[NOTE: In honor of Hard As F*** Randy Platt, we will be using Bobandi-speech for this page. Actually, Randy doesn’t speak in a mix of 1970s-to-current ebonics, just when he’s gonna’ whoop your @$$. So… here we go…]

People got pissed off?! Oh geez… time for yet another…
Post-Race Commentary
So, since day one in 2004, this website has covered all of the races that the Galletta’s Karting Club has ever been in (that includes 1990s-to-current at Galletta’s Greenhouse Backyard Speedway and 2006-2008 at Oswego Speedway’s Kartway). And while we cover the actual races, we always like to put a tongue-in-cheek humorous spin in the coverage.
Why? Well, website writer and editor (and club racer) thinks actual race descriptions and race videos can be boring. Sure, we all love racing, but some races aren’t as entertaining as others. Plus, pretty much everyone who races in our club are friends and family and we joke with each other all the time. While we compete against each other, it’s friendly competition. It’s simply for fun and bragging rights on our website and videos. It’s not cutthroat. It’s for fun. The second it starts being win-or-die-trying is the second we stop the club. And if you haven’t noticed by now, if racers show up like that, they don’t last long. Often one-and-done. If you’re willing to wreck someone to get a pass on a go-kart track, then (1) you ain’t a good racer and (2) it’s not worth getting hurt in a crash or getting in a fight. It’s not. If you think it is, we think you’re a dumbass and we don’t want to race your dumbass.
So, we joke. We make up nicknames and embellish our race descriptions with some sarcasm, occasionally some dry wit, and oftentimes just outlandish, cartoonish goofiness. It’s our club. We have fun racing and laughing together.
Well, ever since the very 1st year this website has existed, SOME people don’t understand that we’re joking and take it VERY seriously. It’s obvious to anybody with a lick of common sense and an average IQ that we crack jokes and sometimes make fun of each other. We try to make it cut and dried, over-the-top obvious, but apparently, some just flat out don’t see the good-natured humor. Some people think we’re being malicious. (If I was being malicious, I’d let you know. I can do that, too. I assure you, that looks VERY different.)
So, while we joke around, we means that it isn’t just me. Now while Matt is usually a fairly serious guy, he’ll occasionally laugh and have fun, but usually not on the track. So sometimes, our co-racers crack the jokes, and I put them on the website and the race videos. And last week, that happened.
Our friend and co-racer Arnold ‘AJ’ Nason has a very LOUD sense of humor. If you have ever met him, he’s got lots of jokes, and some are very off-color and not politically correct. Well, he and another of our friend/co-racers, Randy Platt, have a friendly rivalry on the track, and sometimes that involves name-calling. And after AJ won his 1st career race at Galletta’s, he used a politically-incorrect involving his backwards victory lap. A word for Randy’s heritage. It was not meant to be malicious, meant to poke fun and have fun, locker room trash talk, good-natured… but… he used it.
So… Randy’s a big boy. He laughed and wanted his revenge on the track. And he did so. ABOVE. He won. And hence the former name of the race was “Revenge of the ____________.” (Name edited because of below.)
Well… some people didn’t find it very funny. Matt’s wife Melissa and her family apparently share the same heritage and were terribly offended by the joke by AJ on the video. And boy they let everyone know.
Melissa got her revenge as well. Not by beating AJ on the track, but by drawing a huge penis on AJ’s kart (not very ladylike, AND vandalism?) and telling her mother (knowing her, probably in tears). Keep in mind, she garbles information constantly, takes offense where there is none intended, and can be very jealous and vindictive. By all appearances, she appears to be a paranoid bipolar schizophrenic with cognitive dissonance issues. So then her mother (who also has an amazing habit of a state of perpetual paranoid schizophrenia followed by bouts of vengeance for all she feels offended her as well), got her revenge by telling everyone she knows about it. Mind you, she lives in Wolcott and rarely watches our races, but she knows every single detail that happens here (guess how?) and she — despite not having many friends — gossips to everyone including complete and total strangers.
So… if Monica Gable tells you something horrible happened, it probably didn’t happen anything like she said, she probably got second hand gossip that badly garbled the information, and the person that she is saying bad things about probably unintentionally and unknowingly offended her and she is trying to ruin their reputation. Why? Because she was mad and — truth be damned — that must be sedated via revenge.
To our friends, family, co-racers, and website readers… if you ever meet Monica Gable or she wants to talk to you? Take everything she says with a grain of salt and be careful not to fall for her mind games. She is batshit nuts and has a long track record of it. And… if you don’t believe me? Just offend her. Unintentionally or not. You may not even find out in person, but some of your friends, family, co-workers and maybe even your boss or even the authorities may have gotten some very imaginative calls from her. Best to stay away. Far, FAR away.
Now… how about let’s get back to the races and hope that’s the end of it all.
