SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st, 2012: 13- Karts/50-Laps + 23 caution laps = 73 LAPS?! (23 caution laps! Did I count that right?!) – and so many cautions meant one thing… 1ST TIME ROOKIES! Not terribly unusual for newbies… except for one reeeaaaallly arrogant and loud n00b – who was involved in 8 cautions and warned 4 times about our 3-cautions-and-your-out-n00b rule we’ve had since 2008 – threw an angry, childish, irrational, and antagonistic temper tantrum of epic proportions when he was asked to sit after his 8th accident. The worst temper tantrum we have ever seen in our 20-year history of racing and 17-year history of racing for points. The funny thing was? Every single one of his arguments was utterly empirically refuted on video. He just didn’t like sucking and took it out on us, I guess. And, according to the Busket case, he has bigger balls than every racer who raced here this year and ever because he spoke up about his perceived bias that we supposedly have, even though we gave him every benefit of the doubt until he just had to leave the track so we could finish the race. And when he left… only one caution after he left the race surface. Guess he proved his point, huh? Talk about it on Facebook, or check back later for more coming soon…
PS- Dan “Busket Case” Buske is indefinitely barred from the property for his irrational, out-of-control, unwarranted and empirically false, hysterically-fueled temper tantrum based on ignorance of how terrible of a driver he was and complete disrespect for the agreed upon rules of our backyard speedway).

9/1/2012 MAKE-UP (RETCON) RACE (8-Laps/8-Karts):
Retcon races are short hot-lap sessions counted as a race and designed for two functions: For rookie drivers to get some track time seasoning before entering the regular races, and for regular racers and veterans who missed an earlier race to make-up those races that they missed, and help get back into the points race without penalizing those who did race in that event. All drivers are scored in the earliest race they missed, retroactively counted as if they were in that race. Nobody should be racing exceedingly hard in these races, and almost none of the drivers are actually racing each other and they are often counted in entirely different races.

9/1/2012: HEAT #1 (8-laps/7-Karts):
START: Pos. | Driver (Karts driven) | 2012 Wins
|
Crafty lil’ Matty-Joe did it again by methodically picking drivers off in the low groove – par for the course most weeks, which is why we suspect many people either give up or never try racing in the Galletta’s karting club. He is pretty darn tough to beat in his trusty ol’ Galletta’s Greenhouse #3… the oldest, and most win-decorated chassis on the track!

9/1/2012: 8-LAP HEAT #2 (8-laps/6-Karts):
START: Pos. | Driver (Karts driven) | 2012 Wins
|
Good heat race was a battle between Adam Lytle and Chris Stevens. Chris caught him on a restart and picked up (despite being 2nd in points) only his 2nd heat win of the 2012 season! Meanwhile, a rookie named Dan Buske found a way to (1) fly off the track with nobody near him on lap one, and (2) spin out all by himself and slam the inside hub rail at a high velocity on the last lap. Normally, this isn’t really all that newsworthy, especially when 1st-time-on-track rookies are involved… but just wait.

9/1/2012: 50-LAP FEATURE (13-Karts):
One of our biggest features of the season still could not fill all of the karts. If we only had a few more drivers any given week, we could pull off a twenty kart race. In fact, we could pull one off EVERY week if drivers just simply showed up when it’s time to race. Our track – unlike others in the local area – is large enough for that karet count and more. And most weeks we have race-ready/feature-winning/arrive-and-drive karts sitting idle. Where are the drivers in a race town like Oswego? Especially considering the local racetrack is essentially done for the season minus a few fall shows. Fill up these karts and race with the longest-running and most-experienced karting class in Oswego County!
START: Pos. | Driver (Karts driven) | 2012 Wins
|
The race had a lot of drivers (GOOD!)… but two things were against us that historically make for a long, cranky evening… late start, a full moon, and a handful of drivers in their very 1st feature race at Galletta’s. If tradition says anything, some crazy things can happen when those things all line up.
|
A Driver is banned after multiple wrecks and accusations of us “fixing” our races and calling all of the people who have ever raced on our track “a bunch of retards” that he has “bigger balls” than!
As one can see in the videos at the top of the page, a 1st-timer rookie got into several accidents. While many 1st-timer rookies DO have a learning curve in getting used to how the karts handle and then how to find the best lines on the track, this particular rookie — a one Dan Buske — seemed to think that (1) people were wrecking him [not true, as the video showed] and (2), we were being unfair and everyone else got a better kart than him [not true, this website is filled with hundreds of races with countless dozens and dozens of examples of all sorts of kart and driver combos winning races], and (3) he should be able to go on a track he’s never been on and a kart he’s never raced in and beat drivers that have raced anywhere between 20 to 500 more races in. He berated flagger Wes Stevens because nobody noticed him going into the woods twice (NOTE: In hundreds of drivers racing thousands of laps, VERY few people have ever gone into the woods even once. Twice? In one race?). He then (as can be heard in the directly above video) berating us all with an angry, profanity-laden tirade unseen in the two decades of our track racing almost every summer-to-fall weekend. Way to represent the Town of Minetto Fire Department, sir. Hope you don’t fight fires like you race and insult people you barely know!
