8/10/2014 – Adam Lytle wins “The Bad Moon Rising” 40 25 in the Lytle #33c!
SUNDAY, AUGUST 10th, 2014, OSWEGO, NY – It happens every year. When a full moon rises over the Galletta’s Greenhouse Backyard Karting Speedway, some odd things happen. And the “Super-Moon” indeed live up to that bad omen promise. Even though we started at a decent time, a rough track and many odd breakdowns took their toll on the time and the field – and not even multi-time champions / co-founders Chris and Matt Stevens were safe, as both of them had uncharacteristically continuous breakdowns, wrecks and spins. The 40-lap feature was therefore shortened to 25, but one person avoided all of the bumps, spins and mechanical failures in the main event: It was an impressive 2nd career win for Adam Lytle in his #33c, who passed early leader Keith Raymond and held off Kelly Miller for the victory! More details later this week! Stay tuned!
HEAT 1
The heat races commence!
START:
1. Kelly Miller (Galletta’s Greenhouse #7)
2. Keith Raymond (Raymond #88)
3. Adam Lytle (Lytle #33c)
4. Rookie N00b (Galletta’s Greenhouse #?)
-. *Jon Raymond (Galletta’s Greenhouse #?)
-. *Kevin Galletta (Galletta #28)
Good shot of heat 1 from outside of turn 1, where we go into the turn hovering around 50mph. Yes, that is much faster than you can get on your average local Kiddie Kart tracks with karts that cost 2-3 times as much.
Kelly Miller and Adam Lytle stormed off early, but wrecked in turn 2.
But as soon as the restart happened, they immediately passed the two newbie rookies again.
FINISH:
1. Kelly Miller (Galletta’s Greenhouse #7)

* = Recorded a retcon makeup race credit with this heat. However, under new rules to save the sanity of webmaster/stat-man Chris Stevens, ONLY RETURNING DRIVERS can score make-up points. The reason? When the person doing the points puts in more time, energy, and loses more sanity adding you up for points than you do racing? And you leave before the feature begins? You don’t earn them. Come back, show to us you can drive, THEN, we give them to you. Thanks. Also, sign the sign sheet. Thanks again.
40 25 LAP FEATURE
Adam Lytle blows by Keith Raymond to take the lead early on in the feature. He never looked back. Often in racing, getting good starts and restarts go a long way, and Adam’s come a long way on them.

It was not a good night for the usually unbeatable 1-2 punch of the Stevens Bros.. They usually find their way into the top three spots no matter who the competition is and no matter what karts they drive. However, both of them were plagued with an endless barrage of mechanical problems. Matt used two karts (the #3 and #6) before retiring, and Chris gave it a shot with 3 karts (#5, 8, and 2) before he was able to put the #2 in 4th. Not a good night at all for the two most race experienced and winningest karters in Oswego County.
It was all in all an exciting race, just plagued with a lot of cautions. It was agreed by all drivers to lower the lap count from 40 to 25 because if it went much further, there may not be any drivers or karts left. Adam Lytle, however, ran a perfect race and won it without much of a challenge from even 2nd place Kelly Miller.
FINISH:
1. Adam Lytle (Lytle #33c)
2. Kelly Miller (Galletta’s Greenhouse #7)
3. Melissa Stevens (Scissors n’ Fur #19)
4. Chris Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #5, 8, 2)
5. Jon Raymond? (Galletta’s Greenhouse #6)
6. Keith Raymond (Raymond #88)
7. Kevin Galletta (Galletta #54)

9. DNF – Brian Galletta (Galletta #42)

Now to the 19th Annual Season Gas Flathead Karting World Championship at Galletta’s Greenhouse Backyard Speedway Points!
2014 Gas Flathead National Championship / 2014 Galletta’s Greenhouse Karting Speedway Point Standings
(As of completion of 8/10/2014’s race event.; 8/10 MAKEUPS NOT YET ADDED)
* – The above totals do not include make-up races past July. Quite frankly, the webmaster/statistician has not had enough time to calculate makeup points, and will only calculate them for veterans and return drivers, not for N00B rookies who try it once or twice and never come back (which means we put more effort into their kart prep and point scoring than they do racing).
