The late Thomas Murray Jr. raced with us a handful of times in 2005 and was often joined by his girlfriend at the time. Sadly, he was involved in a fight at the track after he was jumped by a few people over an argument after they broke up (one of the only times the authorities had ever been called in our track’s history — we abhor fighting, especially when we are just about having fun racing), which was the last time we saw him.
In a tragic twist, Tom was killed shortly after the last time we saw him in what was described to us as a horrible traffic accident with a tractor-trailer. Devastating news to us.
He seemed like a nice guy and all these years later we feel that although we didn’t know much about him other than he enjoyed racing, his girlfriend broke up with him, he got jumped by her friends, and then tragically died in an accident all in the few short months that we knew the guy, we can’t help but feel sad whenever we think of him. RIP.
