7/29/2007 – Matt Stevens profusely beaten after dominant 13-Kart/40-Lap win in Galletta’s #0 +YouTube
Galletta’s 2007 Race #9: 7/29/2007 40-Lapper:
Damn him! Despite his brother Chris “The Chrusher” Stevens’ attempts to weigh him down by duct-taping 50 lbs. of weights under Matt’s #33, the 13-driver, 40-lap Feature was still again won by Matt Stevens in the Galletta’s #0 after his #33’s muffler broke off in the 2nd Heat. This makes his 4th Galletta’s feature in a row and 5th of the year.
2007 Volume #9 DVD:
Contains the July 26th, 2007 races from Oswego Speedway, and the July 29th, 2007 races at Galletta’s. 2 hours & 21 minutes.
In all strangeness to add to the full moon of racing, Werewolf Fred Collins (still a bit too sore to run due to his hip) flagged but didn’t race, yet the two original Galletta’s Go-Karts visiting drivers from back in the early 1990s, “Bowser” Brian Galletta and Jesse “The Body” Vivlemore both showed up and they DID race! Both used to race a lot back in the beginning days of the track and love the enhancements we’ve done over the years. Brian stated, “It’s come a long way from when we first started!”
In the first heat, which doubled as a rookie/rusty refresher race, Brian Galletta (in the Galletta’s #7) defeated 1st-timer Lisa Roberts (in the Galletta’s #1). Jesse Vivlemore started a few laps down (in the Galletta’s #5) and passed Lisa, but collected third. He plans to be back to race on a regular basis soon.
Here is the hilarious prank by yours truly, The Chrusher. Hysterical it was, as Matt warmed up the Galletta’s #33 to hear metal clanging and scraping. Too bad I didn’t do a better job tying the 30-50 lbs. of weights to Matt’s seat, as he probably wouldn’t have known! Curses! Matt foiled my plans yet again!
Dick Dann won the 2nd heat, as he and Chris” Chrusher” Stevens pulled away from Nick Dann, Barrelin’ Brian Bortel, Lisa Roberts, and Missy Berry.
In a surprise, Brian Galletta won the 3rd heat, after Matt’s #33 lost a muffler while leading, and then Wesley “Ogre” Stevens wrecked with Mike “MC” Howell while battling for the lead. Brian showed that he isn’t too rusty, and with handicapping, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with. He was followed by Ogre, MC, Melissa Gabel, Oscar Berry, and the DNF’ed Matty-Jo.
What a great 13-man Feature event! Battles taking place right off the bat! Matt Stevens had to use a backup and chose the Galletta’s #0 because his #33 broke. Kyle Reuter, the regular driver of the #0, was out of town for the weekend.
However, as the feature wore on, it wound up being a 4-kart battle pulling away from the rest of the pack, as Wesley Stevens held off Matt Stevens, Dick Dann, and Chris Stevens.
But Dick Dann dropped out and Wesley James got shuffled out of the lead leading to a tremendous 2-kart battle between Matt and his brother Chris. Matt pulled about 2 kart lengths on Chris, until they ran into traffic, which made things close. A few times the brothers were bumper to bumper, but Matt was able to hold his brother off and get the last laugh winning his 4th straight Feature and his 5th of the year. Damn! When will be able to stop Matt’s win streak? This weekend, I say! After the race, Matt then got profusely beaten by several competitors, then cowardly counter-attacked his awesome brother Chris afterwards!

All pictures and video clips are from the DVD. Contact me if you’d like to buy a copy. This week is 2 hours & 21 minutes and the full week of racing all inside from 2 different widescreen camera angles and great stereo surround sound! Only $3. Can’t beat that (I’m crazy to sell them that cheap, but I want people to see ’em! Unlike other local classes that suffer from poor attendance and/or unequal competition, we always put on a great show!)
