7/31/2015 – Keith Raymond SWEEPS to win his 1st & 2nd Feature wins at the 20th Annual 10,000-to-win Twin-25’s!
FRIDAY, JULY 31st, 2015, OSWEGO, NY – For twenty years, we have held our 10,000-to-win race the same week as the big track that our races were inspired by (except, unfortunately, the only thing we have in that abundance to put up for a prize is… track rocks. So… have at ’em!). And with it coinciding with full moon, it was sure to be interesting. In fact, we nearly postponed, but at the last possible moment, we had 7 drivers and put on the show (later than usual, but better late than never). Since last season, 2nd year racer Keith Raymond has been up front and leading many a feature event only to have chains, sprockets and even a motor give out when it looked like he had the race covered. He finally broke through in spades… he swept both of our features – 1st by dominating every lap from the pole position in the 1st race, then coming from mid-pack and evading a pileup to take the lead and not look back for his 1st and 2nd career feature wins in one night! And the picture above asks… was Keith cloned? The force ghost of the original kart owner, Larry Phillips, would be proud. Wait… Larry’s not a ghost! But he SEEMS like one because he NEVER comes to the races! Hmmm… More details, pictures, and a YouTube video!

Wait… why did I list all those karts? Because we have more karts than drivers almost every week. Granted, a handful of them are owned by drivers and/or are backups. But every week we have rentals waiting… waiting… waiting. And some good karts for sale as well. We are still looking for more drivers to join us, as we have over twenty on-site karts, most of which are either for rent (a feature-winning kart for $20-25) and even a couple feature-winning karts for sale (for $250 or less) and enter for $5 to race for an hour or so a week. One could say that the bad economy is the reason why we used to have 10-17 drivers a week and now average 5-10, but some pay tracks pack them in with karts that cost a few grand and need $30+ a week just to field a kart that they own and only get around 5-10 minutes track time a week. Thus, we understand that many do not even have the testicular fortitude to race on our adult track let alone face our veteran drivers on equalized karts, but this is kinda’ showing off a lot of swollen baboon ass pussies are out there, Oswego County “drivers”. If you can’t spend/rig, and it ain’t near a famous track. you don’t show…. common in your kind. We understand. We know. It’s cool. Sad, but cool. It’s okay… we have fun, but to know so many are either missing out or just flat out wuss out. And as it was, we almost didn’t have enough drivers to run this week, but Kevin went MILES out of his way to get his friend Nick to put us over the minimum. Dedication. Thanks, Kevin! And Keith ALSO offered to give Eric a ride home he requires, but Woolworth was lost in bike trails somewhere between Martville and us on. Oh well… back to the race.
This race was fairly straight forward. There was one pass during the entire 25 laps… Chris Stevens getting around his brother Matt for 4th when Matt failed passing Lytle on the initial start.
Other then that, Keith Raymond took a commanding lead the entire race, FINALLY did not have a breakdown, sealing that elusive, monkey-on-the-back, 1st career feature in in his 2nd season at Gallettas! Kevin Galletta was also all by himself in 2nd, with Lytle and the Stevens brothers battling back and forth behind him.
1st 25-Lap Feature – Order of Finish:
1. Keith Raymond (Good Guys Barbershop #88)
2. Kevin Galletta (Galletta Bros. #28)
3. Adam Lytle (Lytle Racing #33c)
4. Chris Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #0)
5. Matt Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #9)
6. Nick Cameron (Galletta Bros. Racing #54)
7. Melissa Stevens (Scissors n’ Fur #19) – DNF
For the 1st time in a few years, and kind of at the last minute, we decided to hold TWIN features for our 10,000-rocks-to-win event, so there may potentially be two winners. Let’s see how that plays out.
2nd 25-Lap Feature – Starting lineup:
1. Kevin Galletta (Galletta Bros. #28)
2. Adam Lytle (Lytle Racing #33c)
3. Keith Raymond (Good Guys Barbershop #88)
4. Matt Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #9)
5. Chris Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #0)
6. Nick Cameron (Galletta Bros. Racing #54)
7. Melissa Stevens (Scissors n’ Fur #19) – DNS
Again, passing was at a premium. There was very little and bumper-to-bumper racing was the norm all night. Kevin Galletta led the early going, but was followed closely by the rest of the pack. On lap 3, 2nd place Adam Lytle spun the #33c in turn 1 and collected the #88 of Keith Raymond and the #33 of Matt Stevens, with Chris Stevens barely evading in the #5. Due to our usual camera operator babysitting, the stationary camera did not catch it. On lap 5, Kevin Galletta’s #28 got out of shape in turn 1 while leading and collected the #5 of Chris Stevens and the #33 of Matt Stevens in 2nd and 3rd. Again the stationary camera (needed on the front-stretch for scoring the points) did not catch it. Again, people, we are a 100% volunteer friends-and-family run operation for TWENTY years. We do it for FUN and love of the sport. Love of clean, equal racing, where cheating and cutthroat driving tactics are essentially the only things completely outlawed. Join us and help in any capacity – racing, flagging, camera operating, lap counting… we’re spread thin on all!
This set up Keith Raymond in the lead, and the misfortune of his past season and a half seemed to come back the other way, as he went on to lead 45 of the 50 laps en route to his 2nd career feature win in one evening! This time, with camera operator! Adam Lytle proved to be the Stevens Bros. blocker, as neither Chris nor Matt were able to get by him, although they passed each other trying to get by him. Matt got revenge for Chris passing him when attempting to pass Lytle, as Matt did the same on lap 15.
2nd 25-Lap Feature – Final order of finish:
1. Keith Raymond (Good Guys Barbershop #88)
2. Adam Lytle (Lytle Racing #33c)
3. Matt Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #9)
4. Chris Stevens (Galletta’s Greenhouse #0)
5. Kevin Galletta (Galletta Bros. #28)
6. Nick Cameron (Galletta Bros. Racing #54)
7. Melissa Stevens (Scissors n’ Fur #19) – DNS
Wait… is… that… THE FORCE GHOST OF THE #88’S FORMER OWNER — LARRY PHILLIPS!!!?!?!!?! Damn Larry, you better get up here, your kart is projecting apparitions of you!
