6/17/2016 – 18-Karts, 35-Laps – Kelly Miller wins 2nd straight to start ’16! +YouTube
6/17/2016 – Week 2 of Galletta’s Season – 21st Annual Father’s Day Race: 18-Karts, 35-Laps!
Friday, June 17th, 2016 – Due to Father’s Day and per the request from a few of our drivers, we switched our 21st Annual Father’s Day race from Sunday the 19th to Friday the 17th. And it was a rousing success driver-wise… we had SEVENTEEN drivers on track for the start of the race. That’s one of our biggest races in history. Mind you, this is ONE class, on the track at the SAME TIME. And for the 2nd week in a row, Kelly Miller picked up the win in the Galletta’s Greenhouse Racing #7, while Chris Stevens scored 2nd for the 2nd week in a row as well (this time in the Galletta’s/Chrusher.com/OswegoSushi.com #8, last week the #4).

A 2nd feature was scheduled, however, a long afternoon and evening of delays, frustrated drivers and busted karts basically cancelled that one.
POST-RACE NOTES
DELAY ISSUES:
So, although we had (mostly) good racing and a big field… we were again plagued with delays on top of delays.
– For one, the short week and the busy greenhouse meant the karts did not get the TLC they needed (including a few visiting drivers needed work done to their karts from Matt), pushing the start time from around 6 pm to around 8 pm.
– For two, our official primary camera woman — Chris’ wife Aou — was still on an impromptu vacation visiting her very ill parents in Thailand for another weekend, and our second camera woman did not step up… rather she abruptly (yet predictably) retired from all camera duties, so we needed to again scramble to find at least operator (and this delayed the race more than it should have), and the race start was delayed to 8:30 pm! Without an experienced camera operator, we have no race record and no possible way to score points! Without that, no points and no handicap! And now, new scoring rules thanks to this!
– And third, a lot of rookies (and another near-full moon) led to quite a few wrecks, broken karts, and even a heated argument over a failed banzai move causing a devastating accident that could have resulted in injury.
This all needs to clean up. A couple of extra days to work on the karts and our camera woman’s return will go a long way to help speed the show up. Apologies for the delays, but as the season progresses, the races will go a lot smoother.
POINTS: Took all two weeks to tally due to two weeks of incomplete, unfocused and fragmented camera footage means… I actually got motion sickness reviewing it. As said above (and below), all scoring is done by review of the race videos. And we need a complete race video of (1) the top three drivers crossing the finish line every lap, (2) as much of the field as humanly possible, and (3) the order of which people retired from the race, and finally (4) the final order of finish of all remaining drivers. Without these things, the race cannot be scored. And the race videos are making this difficult. Rest assured, I am going to try, but if I keep getting motion sickness and finding missing parts of the recording, I will only be able to score what I can see (without getting sick). I may only be able to get who actually finished the race.
Like I said, without the cameras… the starting lineup, the points, the YouTube videos, the website – none of this happens. I’ll do my best to work with what I have. Again, apologies.
-Webmaster Chris Stevens
Spoiler Alert:
Due to an inability to get the point standings completed, we will fast forward to the 1st week they are available. Week 3’s points:
