2019/9/29 – Chris Stevens Clinches Track Championship During the 24th Annual Galletta’s Greenhouse Go-Karting 200-Lap Klassic [+YouTube]

Sunday, September 29th, 2019 – The 24th Annual Galletta’s Go-Kart Klassic 200 Lap 1-WD Championship of the Galaxy! Watch past Klassic Champions Chris Stevens, Matt Stevens and Kelly Miller battle it out for 200-laps with hard-charger newcomers Steve Sixberry, Nic Olivares, Zach Blanchard and several more! In addition, the Klassic usually determines the Annual Track Point Champion as well, which Chris needing to hold off Matt long enough and finish high enough to seal it. Spoiler Alert... he did it by leading the early portion of the race and scoring far and away the most top-3 bonus point laps all season to clinch his extremely tough-to-beat lil' brother! 7/21/2019 – Man Run Over during Twin-25s as Stevens Bros. Sweep [+YouTube]

Sunday, July 21st, 2019 – Our Mr. Galletta’s Speedway (AKA 10,000-**cks-To-Win) was won by GKC founders Chris and Matt Stevens. For Matt, this makes 3-events-in-a-row where he won the 2nd of a Twin-25 in the #74 kart. Chris however, finally snapped a 21-month-and-8-days winless streak by taking the 1st checker of the night in the #4 kart. To judge how long that’s been, his-1-year-old daughter Celeste either didn’t even exist yet, or was just conceived around the time of his last feature win — the 2017 Klassic 200! Oh, and two rookies got into a scary wreck when Tony Hemingway literally kamikaze drove over fellow rookie Andy Hook in turn 1. Ouch! But look… why read my typing about it when you can just go and WATCH THE VIDEOS HERE?

9/22/2018 – 23rd Annual Galletta's Greenhouse Go-Kart 200-Lap Klassic Championship & Final Point Standings

Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 - Chris Stevens secured 2nd place in the 2018 Point Standings (despite not winning a points feature all year) with an impressive run in the 200 lapper that just fell a little short of his brother Matt, who hogged most of the wins of '18 (albeit in a short schedule due to a lack of drivers with balls and brains -- you need BOTH to race with us lads and laddies). The 23rd Annual Galletta's Go-Kart 200-Lap Klassic Points Championship was held, 10-drivers strong! And, only FIVE cautions! Matt Stevens used a 2/3rds of the way pass (catching his fuel-conscious brother Chris off-guard) and held on to win his 13th Galletta's Greenhouse Karting Speedway Klassic (His brother Chris has 7, while Wes Stevens, Kyle Reuter, and Kelly Miller each won 1). Chris only needed to lead around 6 more laps to win the track title, and if he held Matt off for the win on top of that, he would have stole BOTH titles from Matt (who had dominated all year) on the final lap of the season! Good racing from start to finish, only marred by a back-jarring crash early on. Read more and watch the video here!

6/28/2018 - Exhibition Race for Doug Didero by Kelly Miller, Matt and Chris Stevens!

Thursday, June 28th, 2018 - Chris' only feature win of 2018 was a 3-man extended 30-lap, 3-man exhibition heat race that we ran for Doug Didero! Many in the Oswego area know Doug as Oswego Speedway Hall of Famer (three time Oswego Supermodified track champ, two time Oswego Super Classic 200 winner and 9th all time in Oswego Super Feature wins), not to mention a veteran of many other forms of racing, (including NASCAR Busch, IRL, and more)--stopped by to watch a 3 kart exhibition by Kelly Miller, Matt and Chris Stevens. Kelly led most of the race from the pole until the #7 broke and Chris inherited the lead on the last lap run in the #4, holding off Matt in the #3 (the #3 and 4 paint schemes were loosely based on the Skip Matczak cars Doug drove in the mid 1990s to 3 track titles and 1 Classic win). Chris and Matt have been fans of Didero since the early 1990s and finally got him up to check out our big backyard speedway as Kelly was able to pull him and his car owner away from his Super for a bit to check it out. He loved it and wanted to see 10-15 karts out there! (We wholeheartedly agree! Where have the drivers been?) Sorry for no video... our usual camera woman was preparing for an early morning c-section and another club member/racer/wife outright declined. NOTE: Kelly was saddened that he had to leave before we got a picture in. (Also: Really cool of the Oswego Speedway to shout out this picture on Facebook and Twitter!)  

No race this weekend, as Chris Stevens and his wife Rung Napha Stevens (the usual tower camera woman -- and why we didn't have any video of this race, as she was prepping for the hospital visit) welcomed their second daughter--Celeste Nicha-Bella Stevens--to the world on Friday and were in maternity all weekend.

10/13/2017 – Chris Stevens SWEEPS the 22nd Annual Galletta’s Greenhouse Karting Klassic 200 and Galletta's Track Championship of Oswego Gas Flathead Karts!

Friday, October 13th, 2017 – Our 22nd Annual Galletta’s Go-Karts 200-Lap Klassic Championship FINALLY went down after a near month of delays due to lousy driver attendance, occasional bad weather, colds, and other strange anomalies, and it wound up being one of the best and most climatic races in Klassic history, which is what we hope for all of them. The top 3 in points this year -- Chris Stevens, Matt Stevens, and Josh Arnold -- were the top 3 in the Klassic as well! But somebody had to win, and it was Chris Stevens, who was in the top three all season, and outlasted his hard-charging brother Matt to sweep both the 2017 Points and Klassic titles! (Note: If any karter in Oswego County believes they can top these three drivers, you are invited to come play. But we know you'll stick to your pretty boy cookie-cutter karts on the kids tracks). 9/16/2017 – Chris Stevens Survives Exciting Rookie-filled 10-kart/45-Lapper [+YouTube]

SATURDAY, September 16th, 2017 – We finally had enough drivers on board to get a show in (THANKFULLY!!), and again it was thanks to a small group of new guys joining the action and doing a very impressive job with only little experience in our karts and track! And it wound up being a very good and entertaining race! (Now if only we could get some more veteran drivers back from self-imposed and excuse-filled hiatuses, to make the racing be even greater!) Chris Stevens emerged victorious in his GallettasGreenhouse.com/Chrusher.com/OswegoSushi.com #4 after inheriting both 2nd place from Josh Arnold (who trapped Chris in traffic to take 2nd before he broke down) and taking the lead from Lee Gleason (after he got extremely loose in turn 1). But rookie Robert Swan challenged Chris on the last lap (somewhat surprising him), showing great progress in limited track time! More…

8/12/2017 – 3rd Annual Faith Birthday 50’s Twin-25s won by Tim Galletta & Chris Stevens [+YouTube Race Videos]

Saturday, August 12th, 2017 – Tim Galletta and Chris Stevens pretty much controlled almost the entire evening, each getting 1-2 and vice versa respectively. Tim shook off the rust accumulated due to a move down south and then held off everyone for his 1st feature win in a handful of years during the 1st feature. Then Chris Stevens evaded an accident that took out the top three to coast to the win in the 2nd. Plus, during the 1st feature, Tim’s bro-in-law (and past feature winner) Jared Halstead took a nasty spill after coming together with Josh Arnold, flipped, and then got run over by Matt Stevens. Thankfully, he was fine and continued in the 2nd feature. Good racing all around, but there’s an attendance problem when we have to depend on people who live in North Carolina to have enough people to race. 7/8/2017 – Adam “AJ” Lytle & Chris Stevens make it 6-Winners-for-6-Races this season! [+YouTube]

Saturday, July 8th, 2017 – Although we usually run Summer Sundays at Galletta’s, this season Saturday has been working better for a majority of our drivers. And a rather competitive trend has been happening this season: The 1st SIX feature races have had SIX different winners! In the 1st 30-lapper, Adam Lytle FINALLY broke his streak of breaking down to win DOMINATE the 1st one, pulling away from Chris Stevens and the rest of the pack to lead all 30 laps without even a challenge. In the 2nd 30-lapper, Chris Stevens also led all 30 laps, but was challenged by Kevin Galletta, Lytle, Matt Stevens and Josh Arnold. And Josh has been fast all year, scoring excellent finishes on top of his feature win earlier this season! Chris got a big choking hug from his daughter Faith for the win (and some victory laps on daddy’s lap). 9/24/2016 – The 21st Annual Oswego County Klassic 200 won by Matt Stevens; brother Chris Stevens clinches World Divisonal & Track Title!

Matt Stevens triumphs in the 2016 Klassic 200 yet again, proving that he is still the premiere karter in Oswego County, no matter the class! He wins in the oldest Galletta’s Go-Kart, a 1980s Manco kart that has been completely rebuilt a handful of times into the best 1-WD racing yard kart in the world. Chris Stevens won the 2016 Point Standings (which is also the exclusive World Championship of 1-WD Gas Flathead Karting), as he led the most laps in the 200 and was in the top-3 all season, but a broken pull cord did him in for his bid for the Klassic, and had to settle for a hard fought 2nd place in his Galletta’s/Chrusher.com/R&C Sushi #8. 1st year driver Jason King proved to be a survivor, hanging in the full 200 laps, holding his ground and picking up an impressive 3rd place in his King #12. Keith Raymond was a strong and serious contender in the Galletta’s #0, but when it broke down, he had to go down a lap in the Galletta’s #6. These were the only four to make it from start to finish – the four iron men and iron karts of Oswego County Karting.

7/17/2016 – Chris Stevens Inherits 3rd Win in a row, Even His Wife & Kid Won’t Applaud!

Sunday, July 17th, 2016, Week 6 – A few 1st-year-drivers have been battling back and forth for the lead and making strong cases for their 1st career regular season feature wins – on the cusp of convincing victories all season! But a low-precipitation summer thus far has made for a dry track, and a dry track eventually kicks up ruts and create an abnormally rough racing surface (too bad we don’t have anybody funding the dumping tons of clay on ours! ? ), and the 1st season drivers keep getting taken out by the bumps. Kelly Miller (2 straight), Matt Stevens (2 straight) and now Chris Stevens (3 straight) have been there to capitalize on the unfortunate breaks of the young guns. And while it may looks on the cover page here like Chris is on a dominant streak, his wife calls “fluke” and “lucky!” His own loving, “stand-by-her-man” wife! He can’t even get her or their daughter to pose in the victory photo any more. Sometimes winning isn’t as fun as it looks. What am I saying… it’s still fun. Especially posing while zapping mosquitoes. Chris hates mosquitoes. ? – NOTE: Video is uploaded and points are ready to view. 

7/10/2016 – Chris Stevens Again Emerges on top after Leaders Drop off for 2nd Week in a Row!

Sunday, July 10th, 2016, Week 5 – Another great race was in store as a 13-kart / 45-Lap Feature Event went down. Track was a little better than last week, but still had some bumps in turns 1 and 3 that created problems for all. And for the 2nd week in a row, a few capable 1st Year Drivers battled for the lead but via failed pass attempts, breaks and a wreck while up front, and Chris Stevens emerged on top. This makes a unique string of feature wins this season for the 1-2-3 points leaders: Kelly Miller won 2-in-a-row, Matt Stevens won 2-in-a-row, and Chris Stevens won 2-in-a-row. Something’s gotta’ give, and any one of those 1st year drivers or veterans is sure to break into Victory Lane soon. Or will one of the top three in points get back up front again? 7/2/2016  –  Chris Stevens Survives a Bumpy 21st Annual Independence Day 45! +YouTube

Saturday, July 2nd, 2016 – A refreshing change of pace for our racing this week, as we ran 2 heats and 45-lap feature with zero accidents and only a few breakdowns. Unfortunately, two 1st season drivers in search of their 1st regular season career wins – Josh Arnold and Jason King – had the lead and lost it when they broke (and a third – David Hall Jr. lost a piston rod to boot). Behind Josh and Jason, the racing consisted of a lot of passing, with points leaders Kelly Miller, Matt Stevens and Chris Stevens going back and forth after both failed pass attempts and hitting a few bumps that developed on the track. But after the two initial leaders broke down, it was Chris Stevens who inherited the lead late and survived the bumps to hold on for the win. The YouTube Video (with a 2nd angle thanks to Eric Woolworth) will be up as soon as it finishes uploading, editing and processing (likely Monday morning), so hold tight and keep coming back to see when it is up! 9/26/2015 - Chris Stevens captures the 20th Annual Galletta's Greenhouse Karting 200-Lap Klassic and 2015 Track Championship!

With his 5 feature wins going into the Klassic, steady top-3 finishes all year and staying in the top 3 for almost the entire race and winning the 200, Chris Stevens clinched the 2015 Galletta's Track Championship and Galletta's 200-Lap Klassic Championship, a sweep of both titles that he had not done since 2001. This also determines the best overall karter in Oswego, NY, as the overpriced flatkarts and their dozen or so classes divided by age (possibly by day born), height (by millimeters), and weight (by ounces) determines only who looks the fanciest fancy boi/girl with the shiniest credit card (or has no other life or hobbies outside of it). Chris would like to thank his brother Matt Stevens - his head mechanic/crew chief (who happens to be his biggest weekly competition) who got the #8 from non-functional the night before Klassic to race-winning caliber", Kyle Reuter - who he "wishes would race more than once or twice a year because, along with Matt, is always one of the most talented and hardest drivers to compete against, my dad Wes "Ogre" Stevens -  for welding my drive axle on the morning of the Klassic, all of the guys who raced with us most of the year and seem to get better and better and harder and harder to beat every race - Adam Lytle, Keith Raymond, Kevin and Brian Galletta. And to all the rookies and guys racing part of the season... we hope to see more of you next year!"

The race decides both the Track Championship and the Klassic 200 Champion in one fell swoop, as the race counts as the biggest AND the final points race of the season (although after Klassic, we may still have Fall Series races, which still count in the All-Time Points). All past veterans as well as future veterans are - as always - invited to battle it out for the longest-running (and we say premiere) Karting Title in Oswego NY for two decades. As a contest of driver talent, endurance, strategy, patience, and athleticism, it empirically decides the best kart drivers of Oswego, period. There is no valid counter argument. 7/26/2015 - 20th Annual HarborFAST Championship won by Chris Stevens!

SUNDAY, JULY 26th, 2015, OSWEGO, NY – For twenty of the event's twenty-eight years, the undisputed champion of Oswego's Harborfest has been decided at Galletta's Greenhouse Karting Speedway - usually the Sunday night when Harborfest dies a slow death and the city's streets become drivable again. Past winners of Oswego's crown jewel of Harborfest have included illustrious names such as Kyle Reuter, Melissa Stevens, Kelly Miller, Fred Collins & Nick Dann, Matt Stevens and Wes "Ogre" Stevens. But Chris Stevens became a multi-time winner of the event in 2015, sneaking by his brother Matt and inheriting the lead from Kevin Galletta when mechanical issues forced the #28 to the pits. Only 25 laps to make sure Harborfest '15 is hurried along and as dead as a doornail. Chris takes his 4th feature (in 3 different karts) of 2015, making up for '14 where he only won the final regular season race before the '14 Klassic 200! When asked, Chris said, "Experience plays a big role in these races, but many times, a little luck is the difference. Taking away when Matt got me twice due to no passing flags, I've just been a lot luckier this year than last. And no matter who wins, Matt's the head mechanic of all the karts anyways, so he basically wins every race no matter the driver." 8/7/2015 - Matt and Chris Stevens steal each others wins at Masters of Oswego Karting Twin-Feature Night!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 7th, 2015, OSWEGO, NY – There were some crazy accidents this week at Galletta's (one would almost think there was a full moon out, but there wasn't). Early leaders spun and collected others and put point leaders Chris and Matt up front again. Usually whomever gets to the lead first between the bros wins. But there was some shenanigans that had the bros pretty competitively mad at each other (happens once or twice a year since they're always so close in points). Chris had the lead in the 1st and Matt used lapped traffic getting sideways to trap Chris for the win, much to Chris' displeasure, as that passing flag apparently simply does not exist anymore. Chris tried to return the favor to Matt in the 2nd feature, but this time the traffic spun out and saved Matt from getting passed. Chris then rode Matt's bumper, one lap pushing him into loose dirt, enabling Chris to sneak by his little bro to win the 2nd feature, much to the anger of Matt. But in reality, every other karter should be getting mad because Chris and Matt keep hogging the wins in Oswego's oldest and longest running karting division! But Matt has succeeded again with creating a new setup on the #9 to help heavyweight drivers to compete with lighter ones (he weighed himself own over 40 lbs. to test the kart, and had plenty of power to spare, proved in the win and near sweep!). 7/3/2015 - Chris Stevens runs to Independence Day '15 45-Lap Triumph.

FRIDAY, JULY 3rd, 2015, OSWEGO, NY - Originally scheduled for Sunday, July 5th, 2015, in order to skip the fireworks and Independence Day festivities and working around our regular driver schedules, we again moved race day to Friday, July 3rd, 2015. Chris Stevens made amends on his highly frustrating week, as in last weekend's Twin-35's where he lost BOTH features in traffic to his brother and all week long he battled a stomach bug. This week, he successfully navigated traffic en route to an impressive feature win to make it the 2nd time he won a feature with the runs. Too much information? In a statistical anomaly, at least three times this has been known to happen - in fact 3/3! Maybe we need to get stomach bugs before races more often? Keith Raymond led early until the motor stalled, again proving that 1st feature victory elusive! NOTE: We will have a unique open-ended conclusion to this race, however. If you missed at least one race this season at Galletta's, you are welcome to enter our addendum race that will be held on either Saturday or (more likely) Sunday. This isn't for anybody who has raced in every race thus far, it is a make-up race for anybody who has missed one or all of the races thus far. If nobody comes forward, we will not have one. 6/19/2015 - Twin-35's swept by R&C Sushi Bar Crew - Eric Woolworth & Chris Stevens!

FRIDAY, JUNE 19TH, 2015, OSWEGO, NY - After the Sunday, June 14th, 2015 race was rained out (due to a track that didn't dry all week and a few showers showing up before all the drivers arrived), and Sunday, June 21st, 2015 looking to have more rain, we had an emergency pre-emptive strike race. And due to missing last weekend, it was scheduled to be a twin-feature event. And some excellent racing on a nice track was in store! The 1st race had Keith Raymond leading strong in his Good Guys Barbershop #88... until disappointingly a motor let loose. Eric Woolworth then took the lead and held off Matt Stevens, Adam Lytle and Chris Stevens for the win. Then, in the 2nd feature, Keith again led this time in the Galletta's Greenhouse #6 and looked again like he was going to take the checker. But the 1st win for Keith is proving extremely elusive, as he got sideways fending off Matt and Chris Stevens, and then opened up the track for Chris Stevens to take off and hide in the Galletta's Greenhouse #0 for the win. This means that 2/3rds of the Oswego, NY Price Chopper R&C Sushi Bar Chef crew swept the features! (If only Rungnapha 'Aou' Stevens raced too! 😉 ) Updated points, pictures are up and a YouTube video too!

6/7/2015 - 20th Galletta's Greenhouse Karting Season Season Opener won by Chris Stevens!

SUNDAY, JUNE 7TH, 2015, OSWEGO, NY - Our 20th Season of Points Racing at Galletta's Greenhouse Backyard Karting Speedway has arrived! An 8-lap rookie race at 7pm was followed immediately by a 50-lap feature with 11-drivers (the largest single karting class in the area), which saw a bit of a surprising beginning. Chris Stevens got a great start when the green flag dropped and went from  5th to 1st and led all fifty laps en route to his 2nd opening night win in three years. The Galletta's Greenhouse / Chrusher.com /  R&C Sushi Bar LLC #8 looked fast all night, as head mechanic Matt Stevens scoring 2nd in the Galletta's Greenhouse #33 noted. Driver Chris Stevens said, "The #8 must've been itching for a race all winter, as my brother Matt had it set up nice for the Klassic 200 when the rear axle broke on lap 0. I ran the #0 into 2nd that day, and it was very strong, but man, this #8 made me think of what it could've done. Would've been fun to drive it and see! Now I finally get to pose in victory lane for the first time with my baby Faith Marie." Raced started at 7:00 pm and concluded at 8:20 pm. 11 drivers filled 23 on-site karts. 10/11/2014 - 19th Annual Galletta's Greenhouse Karting Klassic 200 & Galletta's Track Title won by Matt Stevens

SATURDAY, October 11th, 2014, OSWEGO, NY -  200 laps.  Only 6 cautions. No fuel refills. And 79 consecutive green flag laps to the finish. Matt Stevens again proved why he is the best karter in Oswego County for 19 years now. He not only prepared 23 on-site karts and made them all within 0.66 seconds of each other (we defy anybody on the planet to do that in any motorsport race anywhere at any time!), but he time trialed on the pole for the 19th running of the area's largest, longest-running, and hardest to win kart race, took it easy for a bit and then dominated the 2nd half of clinched what he already led almost all season - the Galletta's Greenhouse Karting Speedway Track championship. Can't buy it. You have to earn it. There are only five drivers in the world that have won a Galletta's Klassic, and only 2 drivers in the world that have won Galletta's Track Championships (see above) and Matt has won more of them than everybody else combined. In the meantime, check out the 19th Annual Galletta's Klassic page complete with finalized 2014 point standings, where we see that Matt Stevens is still the undisputed best karter in Oswego (dispute it, show up and he'll prove it to you, son. Don't just beat your chest and laugh it off behind your computer as "yard karts", widdle puss puss! We know why you don't...), and only Chris Stevens could stay somewhat close with him.

9/27/2014 - Chris Stevens wins the "Welcome Back Karters!" 40 in the Chrusher.Com/Galletta's/R&C Sushi #4

 SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th, 2014, OSWEGO, NY -  Nearly a month passed before enough drivers were rounded up to have a finally race (unlike many pay tracks around, we prefer 10-20 karts on track and not limit to 1-9 kart classes). And it was Chris "Chrusher" Stevens who collected his first feature win in over a year! Despite Chris being the 2013 Galletta's Defending Track Champion (and, we all know, that means Overall Oswego Karting champ, as it is the longest-running, biggest, most inclusive karting class in Oswego, NY), it took over a  year for the drought to finally end for the the leading feature-winner of 2013. Rough year for Chris - but he still maintains 2nd in points, which is still better than all but his undisputed master bro. GGKC&S now takes a weekend off to prep for the Galletta's 200. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13th, 2014, OSWEGO, NY –  In an extremely odd series of circumstances, this week of the racing season was cancelled/postponed. Firstly, the 8/10/2014 show exposed that the track was in dire need of repairs, and several karts also needed work due to the bumpy road. When we run a bad track, often we all pay with broken down karts and frustrations. Secondly, co-founder/racer Chris Stevens welcomed the birth of he and his wife’s (camera woman Rungnapha Stevens) first child, Miss Faith Marie Stevens, and much like last September, with Matthew and Melissa’s first child, Miss Lilybeth Stevens, there’s just not enough time to get everything — karts, track, cameras, website — all prepped.

2013 was one of Chris' best seasons to date! Winning a season-high 6 features, scoring likely more top-3 finishes than anybody else all year, and was only prevented from winning his 3rd straight Galletta's Karting Klassic 200-Lap feature win by being trapped behind a lapped kart late and then bending an axle forced him to settle for 3rd, the only sour note on an otherwise near-perfect sweep season in Oswego, NY's largest, longest-running, and most talent-filled karting division! 10/13/2013 – 2013 GAS FLATHEAD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP / GALLETTA'S GREENHOUSE TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY CHRIS STEVENS, DECLARES HIMSELF BEST KARTER ON OSWEGO, NY! With a season-high 6 feature victories, an overwhelming amount of top-3 bonus points all year long, and 193 out of 210 laps in the top three followed by a 3rd place finish in the Klassic  (including nearly winning it – but was trapped in traffic) to clinch it, Chris “The Cerebral Chrusher” Stevens clinches the 2013 Gas Flathead World Championship at Galletta's Greenhouse Speedway! And, with 38 competitors competing in 24 feature events, it is by far the largest and most experienced karting class in the city of Oswego and for a large part of Central New York as well. More.... 10/13/2013 – The 18th Annual Galletta's Greenhouse Karting Klassic 200 won by Kelly Miller in the Galletta's Greenhouse #7, Chris Stevens clinches 2013 Track Championship with 3rd Place Finish!!! SATURDAY,OCTOBER 12th, 2013, OSWEGO, NY -   OUTTA' NOWHERE! The 5th member of the Gallettta's Greenhouse Karting Klassic Championship fraternity is crowned! The longest-running Oswego Karting championship ran it's 18th annual marathon event, which decides both the point standings (best overall karter in the area), and also the best Iron-Man karter in the area. Eleven drivers entered but only three led all night (11 drivers?! That leaves several karts on site – including the timed fastest kart of the fleet – Galletta's #5 – unused?! For shame!!! And this is supposed to be a racing town?!) The three you see, Kelly Miller, Matt Stevens, and Chris Stevens had a duel of the ages, as they essentially battled back and forth for the lead for all 200 laps, with occasional challenges by Brian Galletta and Eric Woolworth. All three had the lead and lost it in breathtaking manners (Kelly led early and a slow leaking tired forced him to pit after getting passed, Matt hounded Chris and Kelly, took the lead, then slipped up and Chris got him back, and Chris led several laps late, got pinned and passed by both Kelly and Matt behind lapped traffic, and suffered a  a bent sprocket that took him out of the top 2)! But the one who had it last – Kelly Miller, gets the win. He becomes only the 5th driver – Matt Stevens (won 10), Chris Stevens (won 5), Wes Stevens (won 1), Kyle Reuter (won 1) - in the Klassic's 18 year history to win the big one , all while only picking up his 2nd career win at Galletta's. Although many know him from both racing Stocks and Supermodifieds on the big track downtown, Kelly showed he knows how to drive more than just the big machines! Galletta – raced in the club for the better part of four seasons (2009-2012), including missing only 1 race in a 3 year span. His move down south for work took him out of weekly competition, in fact, for a full year! Tim was back for a specially scheduled Saturday, August 10th, 2013 show, his only race of the year thus far (hopefully he can work in time for the 2013 Klassic 200). We had twin 30s on Saturday and then, we also ran a 3rd feature, a slightly longer 35-lapper, on our regularly scheduled Sunday! 7/7/2013: Chris Stevens wins 3rd Straight Feature at 18th Annual Independence Day 45! SUNDAY, JULY 7th, 2013 -  Chris Stevens took the Galletta's Greenhouse/Chrusher.com/R&C Sushi #4 into victory lane for his 4th feature win of 2013 (including 3rd in a row!) with a strong performance in the Independence Day 45-Lapper, our 18th annual race to celebrate America's birthday! Initial leader Joe Sereno was holding strong – as Chris, Matt Stevens and Brian Galletta all passed each other back and forth behind him – until his drive tire blew shortly after the #4 passed him for the lead. Then another battle occurred as the leaders came up on traffic between Chris, Brian, and Matt… a tremendous contest from start to finish. (And Buddy the Galletta's Greenhouse Patrol cat photo-bombed victory lane… AGAIN!) SUNDAY, JUNE 30th, 2013 -  Chris Stevens duplicated his brother's previously undone feat of winning back-to-back Twin-35s in two different karts. Tearing up the 1st feature in the Galletta's  Greenhouse/Chrusher.com/R&C Sushi #4 with a nice fresh replacement engine he purchased off eBay for $25 (he blew a rod in the opener), he then hopped into the often ignored Galletta's Greenhouse #0 in the 2nd feature and promptly looked just as fast, if not faster taking the win in that, after the initial leader – a VERY game and rocketship fast Dave Spanfelner – slowed up due to what seemed to be a burnt out clutch on the DS Humphrey's #54. Thirteen karts and 70 laps in one race! This is what we mean when we say biggest and most competitive karting class in the area, bar none. PAGE AND POINTS ARE NOW UPDATED!   6/5/2013: 18th Annual Galletta's Greenhouse Karting Season Opener (45-Laps) WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5TH 2013  –  The 18th Annual Galletta's Greenhouse Karting Club Season Opener  (the original, longest-running, most competitive, and largest karting class in Oswego, NY) was scheduled for Sunday, June 2nd, 2013, but for the 2nd (or 3rd or 4th?) year in a row, rained out (technically, the rain stopped in time for a race, but the track was far too wet to prepare). We did not announce a rain date publicly because we flat out did not know what day we were going to run (a lot of track work and kart work was needed and rain was on the horizon). Wednesday wound up being the best day with rain forecasts for the weekend, so we hurried up and ran with it. 8 veterans made it, no surprise that they were the top-8 points-earners in 2012 – and we obviously lost a few rookie 1st-timers because of our short-notice wid-week rain date – but we still put on a tremendous race for our opener. Chris Stevens won the opener in his old kart, the Galletta's Greenhouse Bluestreak #2! Why was he in this usual Galletta's Team “rental” kart when he has two karts of his own? 2011:

Chris broke a long dry spell with Track Championships in 2010, but he finally broke his even longer streak of Galletta's Klassic Championships, winning his first one in ten years! Although, his brother Matt did lead enough laps in the Klassic to clinch the track title (Matt's 1st since 2008), Chris gladly would make the trade off in this case if he were to choose, after winning the last two track titles but having that dry spell (although winning the Oswego Speedway Dirt Gas Classic was one win in that era, but not a 200-lapper like this one).

	MONDAY, AUGUST 29th, 2011: 10 competitors raced karts raced on a Monday due to Hurricane Irene's leftover winds and rain preventing us from racing Sunday and Chris Stevens spoiled Randy Platt's plan of putting his freshly reinstated "Murder 187" kart back in victory lane, catching him snoozing on a restart in the Galletta's Greenhouse #8 for his 2nd feature win of the year. More...->
	SUNDAY, JULY 3RD, 2011: Tim Galletta had an accident in lapped traffic while leading the 1st 35-Lapper, enabling Chris Stevens to take the win, with Matt pressuring him. Tim also was leading late in the 2nd 35-Lapper, but a bump knocked his foot off the gas, which enabled Matt Stevens (this time pressured by Chris) to sneak by him for the win of the 2nd Feature, as fireworks cracked downtown in Oswego. <-More....

2010:

2010 was by far the most diverse year in our club's history - at least in terms of our victory lane. More different drivers won features in 2010 than any other year before or since. Even Matt only won 3 features, Chris only won 1, and someone other than Chris, Matt and Wes (the club founders) won a Klassic (Kyle Reuter became the 1st non-founder/visiting driver to win the 200-lap Championship). And despite only winning only one feature, he still won the track championship due to the sheer amount of top-3 performances all year.

	2010 Season, Event #18 - Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 - A 14-competitor 200-lapper was in store for the 15th Annual Galletta's Karting Klassic 200-Lap Championship, which also doubles as the season Points Finale (points will be tallied during the week) and again did not disappoint as a close, competitive, fiery race with a lot of drama. At the end, however, it was the intrepid- Kyle Reuter, racing his 1st Feature at Galletta's since the 2007 Klassic, emerged from the marathon race on top in the Galletta's Greenhouse #0 kart. He became 1st visiting driver to ever win a Galletta's Go-Kart Klassic (Matt Stevens won 10, Chris won 3, and Wes won 1)! Point-leaders Chris and Matt -- while  running 2nd and 3rd late -- tangled together and had to  go to the rear, and then-leader Gary Miller Sr. started slowing down, which led Kyle - who did lead over 100 laps early before having to change karts due to a sputtering motor - to take the lead late and not look back. Chris, staying strong in the top-3 all race (minus after getting wrecked by his brother with 20-to-go), clinched the '10 Track Points Title.
	<-- At the 2010 Season's 12th Event on  Tuesday, August 24th, 2010,Chris Stevens took the lead on the 2nd lap and led the rest of the way en route to a dominant win, his 1st of the 2010 season at Galletta's. Oddly, it wound up being his ONLY time with the lead all year, and his ONLY win, although he did take the track championship via winning only one feature all year. This one, with so many lead lap bonus points, certainly helped put him over the top for the title - and showed that if he ever gets the lead, he... is... GONE! More...

2009

Chris Stevens ran a perfect strategy all season and broke his brother Matt's 11 track titles-in-a-row/7-year-in-a-row/2-Tracks Track Championship streak (which is 11 track titles on two tracks - Galletta's 2002-2008 and Oswego Speedway / Kartway Gas Stocker 2006-2008 - in that span) by staying with his brother and most often racing and finishing in the top-3 all season.

	The 14th Annual Galletta's Go-Kart Klassic 200: Our Annual 200 lapper began with, Russ Hockey scoring the pole and dominating the vast majority of the race, holding off challenges by Jesse Vivlemore, George Russell, and Chris Stevens. Until late in the race Matt Stevens took the lead in his #33 on lap 162 and then held off his brother Chris--who had to come back from the rear after being in the top-3 all race and losing a drive-wheel nut late--to take the win, his 10th Klassic victory. However, Chris did break Matt's 7-year-straight Track Championship winning streak by racing and finishing consistently in the top-3 all year long, despite Matt having more total wins. The top three karts did not pitand went all 200+ laps on one tank of pump gasoline!
	Points-leader Chris Stevens survives The Night of a Thousand Cautions, AKAThe Accidental Winner 45 on August 16th, 2009 and took a win that fell right into his lap! 12 drivers using 15 karts, 15 cautions, and only 5 made it to the end in this war of attrition.->
	<-What is it with having the flu and winning? For the 2nd straight week, someone with a stomach bug won the feature at Galletta's. On August 9th, 2009, Chris Stevens took the checker in the Galletta's #4, his 2nd of the season, and padded his lead in the points standings - the first time Matt has not had command of the standings in around 8 years. More....
	Our SUNDAY, JULY 5th, 2009 Independence Day Twin-30s was a bonanza. First, we had an entertaining Rookie Powder-puff race, then a Rookie-&-Refresher heat featuring two returning vets and three rookies. Then, the night was wrapped up with two 10-kart 30-Lap Features as Fireworks sounded off over Oswego. Buddy Cottom took the 1st one in the Galletta's #6, and Chris Stevenstook the 2nd one in the Galletta's #8, holding off his hard-charging brother Matt by a bumper. This makes FIVE different winners in SIX FEATURES so far, with most of the races coming down literally to the wire! More....

 

2008:

2008 again was a year of two-track duty, as every Thursday the club raced at Oswego Kartway, and every Sunday at their home track of Galletta's Greenhouse Backyard Speedway. Chris scored 2nd in total points at Oswego and Galletta's, and navigated loose karts to 3rd in both Oswego's Classic 50 and Galletta's Klassic 200.

	GALLETTA'S: Sunday, September 21st, 2008. The 13th Annual Galletta's Kart Klassic went 200 laps, and although Chris Stevens didn't win, he considers this one of his finer driving moments. Despite getting wrecked out of the front row on lap one by the inconsistently wreck-prone Gary Miller Jr., blowing a tire in the first fourth of the race forcing him to do a tire change early on, and facing stagger that was so terrible that he could barely keep the kart on the track (using an extremely unorthodox groove to navigate the turns), he still pulled off a third place finish to the only two drivers who had the lead all day, second place Buddy Cottom and winner Matt Stevens.
	GALLETTA'S: On a chilly Friday, October 24th, 2008 night, Chris Stevens won the first of two 30-lap feature races in his trusty ol' Galletta's #5, which he won the 2000 & 2001 Galletta's Klassics & Track Championships piloting.->
Chris, his dad Wesley, and bro Matt after again sweeping the top-3 positions in the 2008 Oswego Kartway Classic, the final race there before the belligerent, easily-angered, irrational and quite possibly rather insane track operator there barred our highly affordable and competitive Galletta's class from competition the following year for personal reasons in addition to trying to make room for a more expensive, yet supposedly "highly affordable" class, the OHV clones.
	OSWEGO: Thursday, September 4th, 2008: 2nd ANNUAL OSWEGO SPEEDWAY DIRT TRACK CLASSIC!!! Winners: Top three trophy spots go to Wes, Matt, and Chris Stevens! Chris Stevens suffered through loose handling to lead part of the show (before getting loose and passed by his brother Matt), have second for most of the race, and slipped up (to get passed by his dad Wes), but still holding firm for third.Getting a pedestal position is good enough for the trio, and the club goes out in style by again sporting the largest field (and most dramatic race) at the track in our final time there.

	<-On Sunday August 17th, 2008, We didn't have ahell of a lot of competitors show, so we ran the 1st (and only) twin-30s with different karts - and motor cams- in each race. Buddy Cottom (in the all Dyno Race-cam race) and Chris Stevens (in the all Box Briggs Stock-cam race) won the Twin 30 Features.
	<-OSWEGO: Thursday, August 7th, 2008: 30-Lap/Two-classes-in-one race - the last one before the Outlaws booted us out of their races (because we refused to accept being defeated by a bigger motor was cool and they realized how humilating it was to be beat by guys with much smaller motors). Joe Hayden finished first in the 6.5hp class (1st overall) and Chris Stevens finished 1st in the 5hp class (2nd overall). It was also THURSDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN AT THE BULLSHIT RING! 	GALLETTA'S: Friday, July 18th, 2008: Though Nick Dann led half the race, and John "JP" Stepien and Matt Stevens swapped the lead, it was Chris "Chrusher" Stevens that took the 45-lap, 10 kart race win for his 1st race of the year at Galletta's, and his 2nd overall of 2008. The race was close and competitive throughout, with bumper-to-bumper action, close back-and-forth passes, and nobody blowing anybody away.
	OSWEGO: Thursday, July 10th, 2008: Regular gas flathead-only race at Oswego Speedway's Kartway - Chris and Matt swapped the lead multiple times in the heat via slingshotting each other almost every lap, and the feature saw Chris Stevens bide his time until his dad Wes "Ogre" Stevens slipped up, where he took the lead and an easy win, his first at the track since the 2007 Classic.

How and where did you become involved in racing?  As the history section shows, my brother and I have been watching Supermodifieds at Oswego Speedway since early childhood, and used to play race with pedal karts and matchbox cars as toddlers. In our teens, we bought a couple of yard karts, raced them in our backyard with friends and family and then it slowly it took off from there by modifying them into hybrid racing karts - half yard kart, half race kart. Oddly, I am incredibly bored by other classes and forms of racing other than wingless Supermodifieds at Oswego Speedway and our own brand of incredibly affordable and competitive karting. [But even so, after the way the Speedway management treated us and our favorite driver in recent years, I've even lost my love of that track. Good thing we still have our own backyard racing, or I'd be done with the sport or motorsport altogether.] Why do you race at Galletta's Greenhouse Go-Kart Speedway?  Because it is my home track in my back yard. Duh! What a dumb question. Idiot. But seriously, we created our own class because not only we made a karting track in our backyard, but to keep costs down. To build a WKA kart, you're talking about thousands of dollars for a competitive machine. Similar for Champs. Other racing vehicles are the same, but even more costly. Our karting is regulated in order to be able to make a competitive machine that can win races for just a few hundred dollars. $200-500 and you got yourself a kart that can race with us. People always tell us to jump into other classes, change our rules to allow methanol or expensive racing parts, but they just don't get it. We do our class to keep an exciting race with 10-15 karts on a track bumper-to-bumper close with one mistake being the difference between a win and last. Try that in today's economy on any other track in the local area. We almost always have the closest and biggest shows, mainly thanks to my brother's diligence in making every motor as close to equal as he can make it, and our friends for sticking to it and developing into good racers. We're always looking for more, so if you're reading this and like the idea of weekly racing for just a few hundred dollars, then please join us. No other class is more affordable and competitive from first to last place. Why do you race at Oswego Kartway?  We grew up watching the races at Oswego Speedway (the Kartway's parent track and behind where the track is located), so it's fun to race where we saw so many great races through the years. Not to mention it is a vastly different track to Galletta's and it makes for a fun change up. Our track has long straights and narrow, highly banked corners; Oswego has almost no straights, nice clay (veeerrrry expensive, or so I've heard), and very little banking in their turns, so it is a different racing experience - almost completely opposite in terms of handling, top speed, and the fastest racing lines to our home track. Plus, we have friends who race there, volunteer, and have a good time as long as we can keep our kart counts up, and as long as we aren't forced to race people who only race us if they can use different, bigger horsepowered, and much more expensive motors than us (which for some stubborn and irrational reason, the track operator forces us to do). They've been called cheaters by some, but I'd rather just say that it is just poor sportsmanship when the playing field isn't equal. (NOTE: This was written before the Galletta's Karting Club's 2008-09 offseason banishment from the Oswego Kartway , in addition to their hate-filled insults and written threats of violence  aimed at all of Galletta's, but even more so specifically and maliciously towards Chris. The entire story is found on this webpage.) What do you do when you are not racing and/or in the off-season?  I'm a graphic artist and I publish my own books . I create, illustrate, color, and self-publish graphic novels, comic books, comic strips, and children's books while I'm not doing freelance projects. (Note: This is something that apparently shovel-wielding stalkers from the Oswego Kartway  do not like, which is odd, but oh well.) In the last couple of years, I've taught myself how to build and maintain websites in order to help get my comics and our go-karting noticed. It worked, however, I get more insults and personal attacks aimed at me (from cowards who hide behind internet names, I might add, and never to my face) than success. Primarily, I'm a florist for my family's small business, and the Greenhouse work pays the bills, but it's more Matt's passion than mine. The rest of the time, I just spend with my wife, brother, mom and dad. Comments / Is there anything else you would like the fans to know about you, the team, or your sponsors?  My sponsors are Galletta's Greenhouse (my family's greenhouse) and pimping my own graphic artwork projects (ChrusherComix , Towner Comics , and Tee & Wee Children's Book  ). And Emperor Palpatine , because he's my idol.  (Um, that IS a joke... some readers of this site are dumb enough for me to actually need to put that!) So, that means I have no sponsors. Haha... don't need any for gas stocker kart racing! That's the fun of it, because it's low cost (a couple of hundred dollars a year) and high return of fun provided that everybody plays by the rules (Too bad that some don't). We love racing go-karts and we love racing good drivers. Over the last fifteen or so years, we lost track of the hundreds of people who have raced with us and then stopped. Of the hundreds we've raced with, I can think of anywhere around twenty really good drivers that just gave up and stopped racing us. We always hoped that all the guys that raced with us for a year or two and stopped would come back, and we'd have some highly competitive 20 kart races. We would put on the best kart races anywhere, bar none - and as it is, our 10-15 kart races are already the most competitive and exciting in the local area. But either they get bigger motors, jump divisions, race elsewhere or they stop racing entirely. That kind of stinks, but hopefully from here on out we can gain more drivers than we lose. We usually have a trade-off and stay around 10-15 karts. But... in closing... we know that the guys who give up just admit that they can't beat us. Ha!

2007:

Chris had an up-and-down year in 2007. His Galletta's #8 was fast all year, and he secured four feature wins (three features at Galletta's and the 2007 Oswego Speedway [Dirt Kartway; Gas Stock Division] Classic 50) and against some of the best young karting drivers in Oswego (his brother Matt, Kyle Reuter, Ryan Coleman, Buddy Cottom and Dick Dann just to name a few). But at other times he struggled, particularly so at Oswego Speedway before the Classic Weekend, as one driver in the OHV Outlaw division seemed to target him and wrecked him out of contention a few times, forcing Chris to almost stay away from the Kartway for good... until he decided to return (triumphantly) on Classic weekend...

	<- 2007: Chris "Chrusher" Stevens with the Galletta's Greenhouse #8 at the ONLY 200-Lap Oswego Karting Klassic - the 12th Annual one at Galletta's (on 9/23/2007).This season, and Klassic race had more pure young driver talent in it than any other class could even dream of claiming - Kyle Reuter, Ryan Coleman, Buddy Cottom, Michael "mc" Howell, along with the usual founding club drivers of Matt, Chris, and Wes Stevens! And the racing was indeed as great as it should've been with those guys.... but scarred by an accident that retired Wes "Ogre" Stevens from full time racing, as he broke a handful of ribs and shoulder blade.
	<-Chris "The Cerebral Chrusher " Stevens won his fourth overall feature of the 2007 Oswego Karting season (three at Galletta's and one at Oswego), The Gary Miller/Ogre Retirement 45-Lapper on 11/4/2007. Chris won in the Galletta's #4, which used to be his regular kart in 1996 until he started using the Galletta's #2, the same time that Wes "Ogre" Stevens switched to the #4 permanently. However, Ogre is now retired due to his bone-crushing accident during the Klassic, and Chris's sore back needed the #4's soft cushy seat. First win for Chris in the #4 since the 1990s.
On August 30th, 2007, Chris "ChrusherComix" Stevens won the Oswego Speedway  Classic Weekend's Dirt Supermodified Yard Kart Classic 50, his 1st Feature at Oswego since 2006, and his 3rd overall feature of 2007 in his Galletta's #8. His father Wesley Ogre Stevens took 2nd in the Galletta's #4, and his brother and head mechanic Matt Stevens got 3rd in his Galletta's #33. This makes the three originators of Oswego-area Yard Kart racing taking 1-2-3 in the first ever Oswego Speedway "Gas Single Cylinder Supermodified 1-WD Yard Kart" Classic!
	More-> 8/30/2007 - Oswego Speedway Classic: Chris and his wife "Au" Rungnapha after the Oswego Speedway Dirt Kartway's 2007 Classic, where Chris scored the 5hp/6.5hp Gas Stocker Division's Classic win in the 5hp Galletta's Greenhouse #8 Kart. The race is generally known as the biggest and most exciting race in the history of that track judging by the kart count (15), laps (50), the racing, a few funny crashes, and the "oohs & aahs" from the crowd. Chris wanted his brother Matt to pose as well - as he is the master mechanic of all Galletta's karts AND the 2006-08 Track Champion of that track - but they hurried us off. View more on this race here. More->
	On August 26th, 2007, Chris "ChrusherComix" Stevens wins his 2nd feature of the year in his Galletta's #8, a 45-lap, 12-kart event. But the motor won 3 straight races, as the previous week Kyle Reuter won with it when it was on Chris' own backup, the Galletta's #5, and the following week, Chris won the Oswego Speedway Gas Kart Classic with it! Chris thanks his brother Matt and Melissa Gabel for their diligent work on the track and karts during the week, as he could not have done it without them.This race was overshadowed by a horrific crash between Matt Stevens, Kyle Reuter, and Fred Collins - the worst one we've ever cauught o tape, and it became our most-seen (and most infamously HATED) YouTube video.

During the 2006 season, Chris again compiled a handful of wins (3 at Galletta's and 1 at Oswego Speedway) in addition to getting 2nd overall in not only the Galletta's Speedway Point Standings, but also at the Oswego Speedway Dirt Track. Of course, both only second to his brother, as usual.

	Saturday, September 23rd, 2006 (150-Lap Event; 2006 Feature Event #16): SIXTEEN karts started the 150-lapper, and it was legendary for being one of the most competitive Klassics to date. In fact, it was possibly THE closest, as no less than four drivers had a shot on the final lap, but it was Wes Stevens who held off Matt, Chris, and Rob Jimenez on the very lasp lap for the triumphant win! When the #8 developed motor problems for the THIRD Klassic in a row, he hopped into his brother's back-up #3 to take a 2nd place finish, passing Matt in his brand-new #33 on the last lap.
	August 27th, 2006 had some excellent races, but unfortunately the action was overshadowed by a lot of bickering by - NOT the racers, rather - some of the spectators. Chris "ChrusherComix" Stevens (#8) leading Matt Stevens (#3), and Ogre Stevens (#4). Easrlier, Chris barely survived evaded wrecks and passed Bill Kuykendell (#6) on a mid-race restart. Bill protested art and also when he fell off of the track late, but the videotape showed no misconduct (watch the DVD to see - the tape don't lie). This combined with the tie earlier in the month, the Kuykendell's never came back. Nor paid for the gas/kart usage rental donation. Gee, your welcome!
	On August 6th, 2006 at Galletta's, the infamous "tie" race occured, where impressive, but raw rookie Billy Kuykendell had the lead on the white flag, mistook the white for checker, let up just for a split second, and Chris Stevens -- side-by-side -- nipped him at the finish line for the win. However, the Kuykendell family was so utterly upset, so conviced that they saw the checker on lap 39 (even though the tape showed it to be white), and that it was a purposeful screw-job, that Chris stepped down from his win and acknowledged it a tie to make them feel better.
Chris after his 1st Feature Victory at the Oswego Speedway's BRAND-NEW Dirt Track, later re-named Oswego Kartway, Gas Stock 1-WD division, one of the seminal classes at the track, which had just a small fraction of karts that it does now (and our class was far and away the biggest every year we were there; until it was barred to make room for "Gas Clones", lamely referred to as "Pro Stocks"). Considering the track operator allowing higher powered-motors to run in the same class as Galletta's, a feature win against karts with more horsepower is greater than a win with equal-horsepower karts, as all methanol and the current Clone classes are.
	At Oswego Speedway's brand-new Dirt Track on August 4th, 2006, Chris Stevens (#8) lived a childhood dream, winning a feature race on the premises of the legernadry Big O. He was followed by Matt Stevens (#3) and Nick Dann (#02). Matt started on the pole, but Chris and Nick came up through the field - and Chris passed both Mark Miller and Matt Stevens - the two top-guns in the mixed 5hp and 6.5hp classes on the track - for the win. Though 15 karts started the race, several expired before the race's end. This race did not count towards Galletta's points, as it was just for fun.
	At the June 25th, 2006 races at Galletta's, 16 karts battled for 45 laps, but the first 13 took forever because a bunch of guys called "Howard Seabrook & The The Woodland Trailer Park Racing Gang" crashed and smashed every lap or so. Once they wrecked-out, the true racing began. And at the end, it was Chris "ChrusherComix" Stevens who dominantly pulled away from the two other top-guns of Ed Maynes and Matt Stevens to get an impressive victory and take a slim lead in the '06 point standings early on.

2005:

During the 2005 season, Chris had one of his most frustrating seasons as a racer. His brother Matt is always tough to beat, but this season we had new invaders... OHV Outlaws that utilized motors with superior horsepower, enough to defeat drivers with over a decade more go-kart racing experience - just using sheer motor to cover up for countless rookie mistakes. Even so, Chris did manage to put together 2 extremely impressive wins, but it wasn't until most of the season was gone (and having to try out a few karts, motors, and utilizing shaved heads for the 1st time in club history to combat the larger motors), and he was not happy about being outscored by rookies with bigger motors. The OHV gang left because everyone unanimously voted that they should either get flatheads or race their own division on the same track (they elected for neither - that makes you wonder if they ever really wanted to race fair?).

	9/24/2005's 10th Annual Galletta's Kart Klassic 125 was another very good entry into our Annual Championship event. Chris ran a good race in 2005, and was in position to possibly get a win, but was unable to overcome a mid-race pile-up that enabled his brother go from last to 2nd in caution by missing the giant incident that all fell to place in front of him. Even so, Chris - furious that everyone was blaming him watering the track during an intermission for the pile-up and the allowing Fred Collins to try to get his lap back (who caused the chain reaction) - went from last to 3rd and almost caught and trapped Matt who was struggling to pass Jason Mills, but a dry 3rd turn prevented it, and Matt wound up passing Jason for the win. For the 2nd year in a row, he got 3rd to his brother and Mills in the Klassic, again, and 2nd in the points to his bro. Again.
	On 8/28/2005 - in the most-attended race in Galletta's Speedway history up to this point - Chris 'Crusher Comics' Stevens (in his Darth Sidious/San Antonio Spurs/New York Jets/ChrusherComix/Towner Comics/Galletta's Greenhouse #8)survived the war of attrition as he was able to take the lead on lap twenty after a fast rookie (in a motor WAY too strong for him to handle) lost control and flipped off between turns one and two.
	Chris Stevens (in his Galletta's #8 kart) took the lead on 8/14/2005's mixed motor feature race and never looked back to end his winless dry spell that dated back to the post-Klassic Fall 2004 race, which he utterly dominated Ed Maynes - and all else who doubted his ability and mocked his misfortune on the 2004 Klassic tape. It was an end to a long, frustrating half-season streak of bad luck dating almost back to the 2004 Klassic's motor problem debacle, flipped and erupted into flames in the final Fall 2004 race, lost several races to less experienced drivers with larger motors, and the first since he got married in the offseason.

2000-2004

During the first four years of the modern era for the Galletta's Greenhouse Go-Kart League (as we called it back then), our website did not cover every single event (like it has since mid-2005), but we have all of the races and point tallies and more than a few videos and pictures here and there to show. But during this period, Chris amassed many wins, including a three-year sweep of the 1999, 2000 and 2001 Track Championships and Klassics.

	2004: Our 9th Annual Klassic 100 was held on 9/26/2004. Chris Stevens, fresh home from living in Thailand a month with his then-fiance, Rungnapha, time-trialed into the coveted outside pole position in his Galletta's #8, but then a mysterious motor problem sidelined the #8 for the day (and the motor on it for good). Chris then made himself a bit of an enemy, by hopping into his back-up the Galletta's #5, which was driven by a rookie already down two laps in the first fourth of the race. Chris showed them how it was done, picking off drivers one by one and recovering for 3rd on track with some steady, clean racing in a kart that was left for dead by all other people at the track. Chris also won seven features and scored 2nd overall in the '04 points once again.
	2003:  Chris Stevens started on the pole of the 2003 Klassic 100, executed a perfect game plan to pass Matt in traffic around mid-race and was leading late, but his foot slipped off the gas twice - once to get passed by Matt, and again to get passed by Wes - to get 3rd in a heartbreaking loss. He won 4 features en route to getting 2nd place in the '03 season point standings.
	2002:  Chris started 2nd to his brother Matt, led a chunk of the race, broke and recovered to finish 2nd to Matt in the 2002 Klassic, and won 5 features en route to scoring 2nd in the Track Point Title... to his brother Matt as well as Matt snapped his older bro's three-year domination.*Sigh*

	2001:  In 2001, Chriswon 8 feature events and 1st place overall in the '01 Point Standings. Chris proceeded to win the 2000 and 2001 Galletta's Karting Klassics in the Galletta's #5.
	2000:  In 2000, Chris won 16 feature events (including one tie) - includinga victory in the 2000 Galletta's Go-Kart Classic - for 1st place overall in the '00 Point Standings. When the Galletta's #5 was first built, it was unstoppable... not even Matt could hold off the Chris in the orange #5, as Chris went on a huge win streak to sweep the 2000 Title and Klassic.

1990s:

Galletta's Greenhouse hosted box stock gas flathead Briggs and Stratton 5hp karting races from 1990-2004, until visitors began making racing enhancements to their karts in 2005 (we've allowed some since, as seen in our rules page). Back in the early days, founding brothers Matt and Chris (and occasionally their dad Wes) used to battle it out in fierce back-and-forth battles with many a swear word and dirty wreck. They cut their teeth in those formative days, which is why they are such clean, calm, cool, collected, and formidable drivers nowadays.

	1999:  In 1999, Chris utilized a victory in the '99 Galletta's Go-Kart Classic to propel himself to 1st place overall in the '99 Point Standings. The Galletta's #2's finest hour, as Chris used it as the primary weapon in defeating Matt and his trusty ol' #3. 	1998:  In 1998, Chris scored several wins and a 2nd place in the '98 Galletta's Go-Kart Classic to score 2nd place overall in the '98 Point Standings, frustrated in his inability to beat his crafty little brother.
	1996-97:  In the early-to-mid 1990s, Chris primarily drove "Black Bart" - a former Thunder Island kart known as the ORIGINAL Galletta's #1 (now known as the #01 - the black and yellow frame sitting and rusting on the side of the Greenhouse for over a decade, awaiting to be cleaned-up and re-commissioned). Since it was so heavy, Matt would win on his lighter driver/kart comboIt's parts were used to the #2 was the first "Galletta's Kart" built from scratch, as the others were two rebuilt yard karts and one rebuilt amusement park kart.

1980s:

"Galletta's Boys" Matt and Chris got their starts rather early. Almost at embryonic stage here! Peddle-power!
	Galletta's Karting Club started in the early 1980s with pedal-powered carts! Chris and Matt were not satisfied with such slow speeds from pedal power... and so they jumped outside of them and pushed them around the track quicker. This original track was in their front yard. In the winter, the bros also raced sleds down the steep hills on each side of Galletta's Greenhouse as well.
