- – Select Fall Friday Evenings or Saturday Afternoons (Late AUG through OCT)
- – Winter-Spring Closed (NOV through MAY)

10/28/2023 – The 26th Running of the Galletta’s Greenhouse Go-Karts Klassic!
Sorry, I’ve been behind — a combination of being busy with work and family functions, a long stretch of having not enough drivers to run, and the website developing some behind-the-curtain issues that took some time to resolve — but I’m catching up! Stay tuned:

NEXT RACE:
Races are always late afternoon/early evening, and check in to be sure. And, remember, as always:
- – Driver attendance: At least 3 visiting drivers are required to hold a race for the bare minimum of 6 (we always have 3 home drivers every event).
- – Weather dependent: Some rain is good for the track, but too much (or not enough) isn’t.
- – Timing: Check the start time with track and kart operator Matt Stevens. Summer starts tend to vary between 5-8 PM, Fall starts tend to vary between 2-6 PM. Don’t come too early (and leave mad about waiting too long), and don’t come too late (and make other people mad waiting for you), but check in with Matt! 🙂
- – Unexpected Returning & 1st-Timer Drivers: Please arrange in advance to ensure the kart assignments are arranged and we don’t start the race too late. We always welcome new drivers, but please plan ahead!!!
- Summer we prefer either Sundays, but starting in late August, Sundays will be impossible (Chris & Rung Stevens’ work schedule). Starting then, we are more open to scheduling races on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, or *LATE* Sundays (Like Midnight. So no, probably none. We aren’t in our teens & twenties — we used to midnight race a lot back then).
In the meantime, why not get a refresher on the storied history of our annual Championship Race — including hours of videos from almost every single one since 1999?
See our humble little 4-kart Klassic from 1999. Watch Matt’s unbeatable streak through almost the mid-2000s. Catch Chris Stevens’ dry streak end and get hot himself between his almost unbeatable lil’ brother’s streaks! Observe Wesley “Ogre” Stevens get an upset win in 2006! Behold the surprises when Kyle Rueter and Kelly Miller become the 1st “Visiting” drivers to win a Klassic 200! Hours of footage, thousands of laps, and hundreds of drivers giving it a shot here!
2023 Race Video Playlist
HINT: When we race, it takes time to make the race pages with videos, race results, and weekly point standings up, *BUT* you can get sneak peeks by viewing our 2023 Playlist, which is updated on YouTube instantaneously as soon as a new video gets completed! Every race video all season gets uploaded there as soon as they are processed and uploaded, and not all are public, some are only available via this playlist:
Race archives as always with hundreds upon hundreds of race videos race results and point races available to watch below:

About Us
Want to race go-karts? Affordably?
Then why spend $2,000-$5,000 to race when you can race like this for $200-$600?
What We Do:
We race customized backyard racing go-karts weekly on a dirt track behind Galletta’s Greenhouses in the Town of Oswego, New York, USA. We’re mostly just a bunch of friends and family, but always looking for more drivers to join us!
What We’re About:
Founded in the early 1990s, Galletta’s Karting Club & Backyard Speedway was created to race go-karts as competitively as we can for as purposefully affordable as we can (via rules), using karts that are hybrid – something between a prefabricated racing kart and a yard kart that can race fast and safe on both pay tracks and backyard tracks alike, all the while having drivers that are highly talented and experienced racers WITHOUT spending wars. The original, longest-running, and largest karting class in the area, we are also the easiest to join — we have over 20 equally fast, feature-winning, arrive-and-drive karts and a over the years of hundreds of races have amassed a massive list of hundreds of drivers join into the weekly Summer-Fall races. If you like it, rent, build, or buy your own for a few hundred dollars to join and compete (instead of a few thousand like most pay track classes to take to join and compete, as we CAP the type or parts and prices). And, some of the more experienced drivers at Galletta’s have been racing more than a decade before any of the local pay tracks were built and some have hundreds of more races under their belts. Come race where Kyle Reuter once called, “the Rucker Park of karting.”
When Do We Usually Race?:
Races are scheduled every Summer Sunday (June-August) evening, and then every Fall Saturday (September-October) afternoon (unless poor driver attendance or bad weather forces us to cancel). Exact timing TBA and based on active driver consensus. This is subject to change based on the weather’s effect on the track condition, and driver count. In addition, our schedule is flexible, and depending on weather and driver availability, we can occasionally change to Fridays or Saturdays to beat rain or for a special event. But our go-to dates for racing are usually every Summer Sunday and every Fall Saturday that we can race.
What Do We Race?:
We race mostly custom-built ‘arrive-and-drive rental’ but also allow ‘run-what-you-brung’ karts (classed only by motor type with weight handicaps; our fleet is completely race-modified Briggs 5hp flathead engines, see Matt for details on work done to each motor and what is allowed based on weight and/or experience). Our class is a maximum of 20 qualifiers on track, and we’ve never had too many racers, rather we rarely have enough drivers to fill all of our open karts. Come on up! Keep in touch for more details. Read on to see our twenty-year history of weekly points racing (with COMPLETE race videos and complete rundowns of each season since 1995 – and race from 2005) every June through October in Oswego, NY! Enjoy!
