Welcome! We are a Dirt Go-Karting Club that races for a Points championship every Sunday from June-thru-August & every weekend from September-thru-October since the early 1990s, counting points since 1996, and online since 2005!  We race gas-only stock 5-horsepower class at Galletta’s Greenhouse’s not-for-profit/race-at-your-own-risk Go-Kart Speedway, and a gas-only 8hp-and-less summer Thursdays at Oswego Speedway’s Clay Dirt Oval. Always looking for new drivers to join us! Serious racers only!

JUNE 5TH, 2005, OSWEGO, NY:
The original and only dirt karting division of Oswego begins its 10th season in style with a fantastic 10-kart 40-lapper! Ed Meynes (in his own #18) stormed from 8th to 1st in just two laps to take a commanding lead in the opening week of the 2005 racing season. Matt Stevens (in his Galletta’s #3) was on Ed’s tail, but didn’t have enough to get him. Wesley “The TrOgre” Stevens (in his Galletta’s #4) was up to his usual knucklehead shenanigans as he plowed the Galletta’s #8 kart driven by his eldest son, Chris Stevens into the woods in turn two where Chris injured his ribs bouncing off safety tires, trees, bushes, and rocks backwards. Chris considered this insult to injury, as his back was already painfully stiff and sore for the prior month leading up to this. Wesley blamed the incident on Barrelin’ Brian Bortel (who was piloting the Galletta’s rental #5) claiming that Brian pushed him into Chris’ kart. Chris did recover for a 3rd place finish, but not without frustration over a long streak of being collected in wrecks dating back to last season where his 1st motor mysteriously died during the Classic, followed by the final race of 2004 where he flipped the final race causing his 2nd motor to erupt into flames. Speaking of broken engines, 1st-time driver Gary Miller ran one lap in the Galletta’s #0, but a broken oil-splasher blew the engine.

Ed is resuming where he left off in his impressive 2004 rookie campaign that saw him win several late season races and dominate the opening portions on the 2004 Galletta’s Classic race, which tied him for rookie-of-the-year honors with the late Dan Murdock.Unfortunately, Dan passed away in the off-season via a tragic snowmobile accident.Everyone at Galletta’s Speedway was terribly sad about losing Dan, as he was one of the nicest, most intelligent, ambitious, and talented people to ever race with us, and we believe that he’d still be racing with us today and think that sometimes he may watch us from heaven. This entire 2005 season is dedicated in his memory, as is the name of the 2005 Classic, as the 2004 Classic was the final race that he competed in.
