8/4/2019 – All-Rookie Nite! Twin-15s & Another Flying Kart! [+YouTube]

20190804_213817-Vic-Pic

Sunday, August 4th, 2019 – 20190804_213817-Vic-PicFor some reason, ZERO regular veteran drivers showed up this week. While this would normally be a pretty big bummer, we had SIX 1st-timer rookies ready for action, so an all-rookie night it is! And they put on an entertaining show, with some good racing and a few funny incidents that include ANOTHER kart-hop accident right in front of our camera for the 2nd race event in a row. We may have gotten a few new regulars joining the veterans… that is… if the regular vets show up! Within the next 1-2 days, we’ll have a complete edited video with some contrast fixes, a 2nd camera from the rear turn and updated points! For the meantime, enjoy this above unedited video from the regular tower camera angle.

Our starting order looks complicated, but it’s really extremely simple. Order is inverted by:

  • (1st) 2019 Wins,
    (2nd) 2019 Point Average, and
(3rd) when no wins in 2019, (3a) prior season wins and (3b) All-Time wins.
  • Returning vets not yet raced in current season are inverted by (1) All-Time Wins, (2) All-Time Point Average in back of current season’s competitors.
  • 1st timer Newbie Rookies inverted by weight and/or choice (some are more comfortable in the back until they get the hang of it).
  • Returning rookies are handicapped based on experienced drivers judging their ability to race close and hold a line without getting into others and causing a wreck. This is for EVERYONE’S safety, as many pileup wrecks have occured when drivers started up front when they were not experienced enough to yet. Once deemed that they can, they enter the regular inverted via wins/PPR handicap. It’s as simple as holding a line, not crashing into others, and not routinely spinning out.
  • All drivers have a choice of starting in the rear until get the hang of it (usually the best choice for newbie rookies).
  • Anybody is welcomed to start in the rear and take 1 slow lap for points and pull off. All that is required is (1) a kart available and (2) a helmet.
